Aldi do a decent range (Crane) if money is tight. But I'd say decent shoes number 1 from a running shop then a technical material running top either from same shop or from wiggle / M&M sports etc. If you're in London Decathlon is a good bet too. They do great socks.

Next comes jackets / gilet / tights / ron hill tracksters etc....

But shoes and nice top are the most important....never use a cotton t-shirt!

Here goes:

Ron Hill tracksters if it's cold
Any shorts that fit
Wicking tops (I use berghaus cycling t shirts)
Ron hill gloves.
Wind proof jacket if its really cold.
Tub of Vaseline to stop chafing!

There's a lot of money to be made from flogging pricey kit, which I've never found necessary, apart from decent shoes.
Best bet is to visit a specialist shop (e.g. run and Become )

Trainers from a good running shop. I did a foot scan at the London Marathon Shop. I did on a week day and there was only me, my husband and guy in the shop to watch me make a fool of myself.

Support bra
Wicking tops
Running Tights
Cheap waterproof jacket.

I started running in the summer, so I run in shorts and sports top cheap until winter came.

2. Decent running shoes from a running store
3. Decent running shoes from a running store
4. Decent running shoes from a running store
5. Decent running shoes from a running store
6. Decent running shoes from a running store

Getting the picture yet!!?? Ditto to everything said above. Can't comment on the bra though!

Also try a Gilet (Sleeveless top to keep the wind off your chest) much better option than a full jacket on cold days.
