Cheap running shoes

Is there such a thing?

I have tried searching google and this site and forum and there are some options but i was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent pair of cheap (£50 or below) trainers for average runner (build, speed, pronation and 30 miles/week milage) or a site which has cheap high end shoes.

I want them for training on road and trails (not necessary that they're XC or trail shoes) on the Cornish hills.  Previous trainers have all been high end lightweight.

I just don't want to pick something which is so hard and unsuitable it's like running barefoot!

I have no recommendations, but I would say this: I think shoes are the one thing you shouldn't skimp on. That way lies injury. Having said that, you don't have to spend over £100 to get shoes that are suitable. Go to a running shop if you have one near you, get your gait checked out and get some advice. Most places will understand your budget problems.

One way of getting cheaper shoes is to get previous models, lots of places sell off last year's stock when the new stuff is due in.

No matter what shoes you get, you ought to get proper gait analysis done etc and I'm sure, as PC says, that if you go in and tell the shop your maximum budget, they'll be able to find something.
