Garmin 110 - quick question - Gear

Morning all,

My girlfriend's bought me the Garmin 110 forerunner for Christmas, is it possible to buy a heart rate monitor for it separately? If yes, does anyone know the best/cheapest place to get one.

If its the model supplied without the heart rate monitor, you can use any ANT+ compatible heart rate strap. The obvious choice would be Garmin's own strap.

Is the Forerunner 110 a reasonable choice for someone who doesn't have the kind of cash to spend on a Forerunner 610?

Or can someone recommend a decent budget alternative?

I'm currently using Adidas MiCoach app on my phone which is good for a free app but I would prefer something a bit easier to carry.

The 110 doesn't have all the bells and whistles the more expensive models have but if you are after basic distance, speed/pace, calorie and HR data (you'll need a HR monitor) then the 110 will do just fine.

To be honest I don't even look at my watch on runs now I only look at the data when I've loaded up to Garmin Connect / Runkeeper.

I bought the 110 so that I didn't have to have my phone strapped to my arm all the time and I think it's a great bit of kit. It is much more accurate than my phone's GPS ever was and I like the garmin websites interface when looking at all the running data. I also prefer the fact that it has buttons and not the touch bezel as I really struggled with that when using my mums 405.

I shopped around but couldn't see a "bargain" anywhere. I ended up getting mine through Amazon.

Sorry to bounce this one back on the forum - I am looking to replace my Garmin 205 and having looked at a colleagues 110 seems to do everything I need - BUT my question is, how durable is the strap because it doesn't seem to be replaceable in the same way I have on the 205 - (have replaced it several times when they have broken)

Probably... since this was relisted from Monday. They usually have a day at the end of the week when they "reload" deals, so keep an eye out then too.

I bought the 310xt with HRM strap in yesterday's deal for £150. Well happy with that!

I feel certain they will offer other forerunners in the next few days. Do your research on the DCRainmaker site to see which model suits you best.

Although the 110's didn't sell out previously, if you really want it don't take any chances. Add it to your basket the second it becomes available and you then have 15 minutes to go through the checkout process.

On both occasions where the 310xt were offered, they were all gone in a little over a minute.
