Hello.

I am realitively new to running & I am completing in a few races this year, 10k & half marathon.

I am looking to buy my GPS watch but am looking for one under £100. I don't need it to be amazing. I am only looking to track distance and speed and for it to be reliable.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Garmin forerunner,  the 110 is just over £100 on amazon (may be cheaper elsewhere).

The GPS ones have three-digit numbers, but you may be happy with the cheaper footpod based ones (with two-digit model numbers) as these are more accurate than Nike + and accurate/consistent enough to help you in training.

I trained for my first marathon with a forerunner 50 foot-pod based one, and treated myself to a 405 after completing the marathon.  The 405 is nicer (e.g. able to program intervals etc) but the 50 was good enough

Don't rule out the newer Garmin Forerunner 10 which is smaller and offers the same functionality as the 110 (software upgrade on Garmin Connect or as standard on the very latest watches out of the factory). We reviewed this in our blog:

Hi guys, do these watches give you any more info than map my run on the iphone? ive been contemplating getting one for a while just because of the size issue.

Do you need a footpod with forerunner 10?

The Forerunner 10 (around £90) has built in GPS but no heart rate monitor. The Garmin Forerunner 110 (around £110) has both. Personaly I would go the extra £20 if you can stretch to it and get the 110.

Ben - Many people use map my run - personally I wouldnt want to run with a £400 phone.
