Hi there, my father-in-law has recently had an angioplasty and several stents fitted to sort out severe angina. Now, he's allowed to walk, and wants a heart rate monitor for his birthday (soon) so he can not overexert himself.

he wants a fairly baic one, but one that he can programme various target heart rates/times into  - eg he wants to create a warm-up / brisk walk / cool-down type programme to get him back to full health again.

any recommedations ?

frag - the Aldis/Tchibos of this world do cheap HRM's from time to time but I don't think any of them are doing them at the mo

but for sheer range take a look at this site and see if anything suits - and if you see a model that may fit, check on ebay if any sellers have better prices for it. I've bought Polar HRM's off ebay without any problem at good prices

Another vote for heartratemonitor.co.uk. I've bought from them in the past. Excellent service, excellent advice. Loads of info on the site and happy to talk over the phone if you need more.
