Hi,
I'm in London for a few days...near Charing Cross and thought I'd try and pick up some new gear while I'm here. Anyone know any good shops near Charing Cross?
Thanks

There's a (tiny) Sweatshop in Covent Garden, which is very close. Run and Become in Victoria could be a better choice.

Can't remember street names off the top of my head - you'll be able to get them off the relevant websites, or someone else here will doubtlessly know.

Run and Become are on Palmer Street, near the rear exit of St James Park tube (turn left and keep going onto the pedestrianised street).

Here you have adresses of three running shops in central London. They are all easy to reach from Charing Cross.

Run and Become : 42 Palmer Street, Victoria
London, SW1H 0PH (circle line, St. James Park)

Runner's Need : 34 Parkway, Camden, London, NW1 7AH (Northern line, but havn`t been there, so don`t know the best station)

London City Runner : 10 Ludgate Broadway, London, EC4V 6DU (Circle line, but forgot the best station)

Runners Need is less than 100 yards from Camden Town tube. Turn right at the top of the escalators, cross the road and keep walking past Starbucks and the Odeon cinema.

Thanks all for the quick responses :)

Also a Runners Need - see the link on the RW home page - near Liverpool St station (you can get there from Embankment which is next to Charing X). Don't go at lunchtime though.

Lilywhites at Piccadilly Circus (near the forum pub) has some running stuff, probably OK for T-shirts or shorts as opposed to shoes.

I'd recommend Runners World in Covent Garden! They have the adidas foot scan and a wide range of stock (not necessarily on display) and clued up staff. It's on the ground floor of Cannons Health Club.

There is also a Sweat shop in Harrods which is bigger than the Covent Garden one

Don't forget Niketown in Oxford Circus! Good selection of running gear - except for some of the new 'purple' range!!
