When I started running I used the Nike + GPS iPhone app to record my runs and still do because I wasn't sure how long I would keep running up. Well, six months and over 400 Km later I'm still going. However carrying my phone around is getting annoying and the distance measurement doesn't seem the best, for example, a 5 Km run can be 500 meters off even though I keep calibrating it.
So I'm looking at investing in a watch, hence this thread and I'm wondering if the following Garmin is any good?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-Forerunner-Sportswatch-Heart-Monitor/dp/B0046BTK14/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1329830688&sr=1-1Do I need a heart rate monitor, probably not but it's only about £1.50 more than without!
My only concern is that my current run history is with Nike and my aim for this year is to get to the blue level, after which I'll be less concerned because it's a lot of miles until the next level. Therefore should I maybe go with the Nike watch or could the distance on that be off as well! I think I have seen a link where you can import Garmin runs into Nike's website though.
I think ideally I'm looking for something that can tell me my current pace at a glance, help with interval training (basically I don't do it because I have no idea on timing or distances I'm doing unless I keep getting my phone out), easy to use an will last me a good few years depending on the cost!
Sorry if that was a bit long but any advice would be appreciated and if moving from Nike to Garmin is the right way forward?
