New Balance 854s

What else has worked?

It's a while since the great NB 854s were phased out. Fortunately I was able to stock up with a couple of pairs before they vanished forever, but these are reaching the end of their useful lives.

I'm just wondering what ex-854 fans have moved onto that have worked for them?

I used to run in 854s but changed to 766 when they stopped producing them.  I think these have been changed now to the 767.  I got orthotics and now run in the Nike Moire - the best shoe I've had by far, although needs replacing a bit more often.

I ran in 854's for years but I also got orthotics. So I went for a neutral shoe and I run in Asics Nimbus now.

Thanks. I tried Asics Nimbus a few years ago but had the same problem that many people compalined of -- blisters from runs over a certain distnace (around 6 miles in my case). Maybe they've got rid of that seam. It's one of the reasons I liked 854s -- the wide fitting.

Any other thoughts anyone?

Try the Asics Cumulus - I used to use the Nimbus, but sometimes got blisters.  The Cumulus seems wider on the foot and no blister problems.  Start fitness will get you two pairs for £80, with free postage.  Have ordered many Cumulus shoes from them in the last few years.
