New Balance confusion!

I'm looking to buy a pair of lightweight trainers (under 290g), preferably New Balance. By looking through the reviews here, I thought I'd decided on NB 731. But then i saw that on 2 separate New Balance websites, they list the 730/731 trainers as considerably heavier than the 830 range (which i thought were the heavier ones!). Does anyone have a definite answer to this problem, as i would love to try out a lighter shoe?

they both feel identical to me, try to get to a shop that stocks both and try them on, its the best way to see which you prefer.
For the record, I don't know which is heavier, but they can't be much different. The 830/831 is the better shoe, in terms of cushioning, but the 730/1 has quite a nice feel as well

Owen

Give New Balance a call and ask them. They are dead helpful!

Im using the 830`s for my road running - cant comment on the 731 - tho tried them on in the shop - preferred the 830, they feel v light indeed, and v comfortable with it (cushioning superb )- i have used adidas in the past and these are by far the best road shoe ive used (neutral gait - do about 20 miles p/week on road) - and an absolute steal at £35 from the NB factory shop at Shap - Give them a ring and grab a bargain.

I run in 730's and love them , I do think though that at 13 stone I'm on the edge and next time may lok at a little more cushioning. Nice light shoe though IMHO

Thanks for the advice everyone. I tried 3 stores, but those that stock New Balance at all (what's happened to Lillywhites in recent years? It's embarrassingly bad) all only seemed to stock the 830's. Having taken a chance on a pair of these though, they seem great. I guess i'll never find out an answer to the weight thing without tracking down a pair of the 731's, and buying some kitchen scales! Thanks.

Try the New balance factory shops, they're half price. I haven't got the number to hand but if you trawl back through the gear threads it was posted about a week ago.
