Check out this BBC Report on a new invention for swimmers.

Come on Polar, come on Garmin.

Come on Oakley maybe...

Why do they have to be quicker than me at EVERYTHING?!

Oh. It was you yourself Muttley.

Not may others there seeing the awesome gadgetness potential of this idea though...some poor soul even suggesting a mechanical clicker was a good way to count laps in a pool.

Clearly the shades, hrm, gps bit is essential. Maybe a virtual partner could be added. Choose a Paula Radcliffe visual to be running at the pace you want.

Substitute anyone else for Paula of course...would we run better keeping a visual of Beyonce for example just in front of us...?

couldn't run at all with a vision of Beyonce just in front of me.

... not in my usual lycra shorts, anyway...

I spent some of the Reading Half Marathon with the Cheeky Girls just ahead of me. They were going a lot slower than me, but it took me a while to overtake. Cheeky indeed :-)

One day I'll be fast enough to get a glimpse of Nell McAndrew :-(
