Problems with Start Fitness?

Has anyone experienced problems with Start Fitness (startfitness.co.uk)?

I ordered a pair of shoes a  while ago - Nike Pegasus - which were supposed to include a pair of free socks and free pair of shorts. 

The shoes arrived, but were the wrong colour - orange and silver instead of yellow and gray - and the shorts didn't arrive at all. 

I called their customer service, and was told that it the shoes had the right colour code compared to the shoes I ordered (yes, it was the same colour code, but Nike in fact uses the same colour codes for several colour combinations, as yellow and orange has the same code, as do silver ang grey...). I told them that the picture on their web site and the shoes quite clearly didn't match up, and they told me to send them an email.

Three emails and three months later I haven't heard anything back from them. 

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

No - I've only ever had good service from them. 

One time I ordered an older (cheaper) version of a shoe, but as it was out of stock they sent the new version, at the cheaper price.

I would certainly recommend them - I guess you've just been unlucky in this instance.

Personally, I wouldn't be worried about the colour of the shoe anyway.  They only get covered in mud and dirt.

(and I always get the freebies - not that I NEED another running log book!)

I've always had good service too.

Can't say I really notice the colour of my trainers.  They are usually brown after a couple of days anyway.

I would be hacked off if I got the wrong model but not the wrong colour.

And were the free shorts subject to stock levels?

I've never ordered a shoe because of the colour. If the model is right for me - thats all that matters.

This is runners world - not Vogue ?

D'you think this is like a "reverse advert"? 

Startfitness wouldn't be able to start a thread saying "we're really great, come and look at our fantastic website", but now plenty of forumites are posting on here now saying how good they are......

You'd have to be very confident to try it, though!

I've used Start Fitness a couple of times and had all the gear I ordered within a couple of days, no problems whatsoever

I ordered the air pegasus for my OH for christmas and got the free shorts and socks..............to be honest i wouldn't have noticed what colour they were.... never do with shoes

I noticed, because I've unfortunately had fake Nike's delivered before - which of course would mean that they contain cardboard instead of Air - and I always check out my equipment carefully now.

It's not as much the colour that bugs me - I used them the day I got them, after having confirmed that they were original Nike's,  so it's not like I was going to return them - but the fact that they have been totally unresponsive. They were close to being rude on the phone, they didn't respond to emails, and I never actually received the shorts that came as a freebie.

Was just checking this as I have ordered from Start for the first time and I have to say I'd be annoyed if an advertised freebie weren't delivered. I believe that's misrepresentation.......

As for shoes, as long as I never get sent a pink and white pair (a personal bugbear from the years when you could *only* get girls/women's trainers in pink!) I don't care

I purchased a pair of Adidas spikes only to recieve a different colour am extremley disappointed

I just got a pair of last year's Asics Cumulus for less than £50 from them.

Wouldn't have minded what colour they came in. No complaints here.

My last 3 pairs of trainers have been ordered through them without any problems, always delivered exactly what I ordered.

And ignoring it, I have only good things to say about SF. Only ever had one problem - a pair of shorts ordered but didn't arrive. A replacement pair was sent without a problem.

been using start fitness for a while now, bought my last 4 or 5 pairs of shoes there, i think the service is excellent, prices are usually good, freebies are nice and delivery times are always as stated.

As per wilkie above I rcently ordered a pair of nike lunaracers.  i went for the older cheaper model in a lime colour which i didnt really like but went for it as they were cheaper than the newer model.  What arrived was a nice blue pair of lunaracer +2 (the newer ones) , result!

Yup, only good experience with SF for me - they've got me through my first year of running and have been dependable and always given good advice.
