Retro Running Gear

I'm a terrible runner, I blame the big bones, and therefore the only satisfaction I can glean from running is from buying cool running gear.

I really want retro (80's ideally) styled running gear but it seems impossible to find.  I've tried eBay (obviously) but there is barely any selection, i was hoping that a forward (backward?!) thinking company would be designing some excellent retro styled tech running gear.

Do any of you know where I could look?

Asics do a tiger brand range of goods... they are quite retro.

That's nice gear (I have a pair of onitsuka tiger trainers) but it seems more casual wear rather than running clobber?

Just design your own loads of technical t shirt printing places online where you can get custom made shirts, make up your own definitive cool top and you will know no-one else has it you can be your own design house.

Brilliant!

That's my afternoon sorted...

I designed an awesome singlet for myself, ready to order it, but then checked the price.

Take a guess how much you think one singlet would be in my design?

£90!

You heard me correctly, that was £90 for one vest!

Man, being a designer is expensive.

I took part in the British Masters' track & field champs a couple of weeks ago, and was keenly admiring some of the BMAF kit on display.  Unashamedly retrotastic gear!  This is the official kit you're supposed to wear for taking part in national/international vets' competitions but there don't appear to be any restrictions on buying the stuff.

Here.

PhilPub you leg-end, that stuff is exactly the sort I'm looking for - many thanks for the link

Good stuff, innit.  I can imagine David Coleman or Ron Pickering commentating on my run as I zoom along feeling like Steve Ovett - or maybe for the "bigger boned" gentleman, Daley Thompson doing the 1500 metres.

That's brilliant stuff, Phil!

Still got a 'Sub 4' white and black mesh type running vest.

I bought it a few days after running Sub 4 for...1500m

4 minutes or 4 hours?

A pair of Ron Hills (love mine), some Silver Shadows (as per linky above) and surely just a retro cotton Tee would do it?

(...and I pretty much seem to have just described myself there!)
