Road running in trail shoes?

Hi all,

I started road running 18 months ago and bought a pair of Asics Enduro 5s because they were on sale.

I've been very happy with them, have done over 1000 miles on them and was looking at replacing them with the new version of the same shoe, the Enduro 7 when I noticed they were trial shoes rather than road running shoes. Is this a big issue/ difference? Am I missing something by not going with a road shoe?

Cheers

Bloody hell if you got 1000 miles out of them definitely buy another pair.

I run in trail shoes a lot. They're just heavier and so marginally slower.

Cheers cougie, they still arn't in THAT bad a nick but I thought I'd bed a new pair in. For 30 quid I've def, got my moneys worth out of them!

Asics trail enduro or trabuco do road as well as they do trails. I use the Trabuco for mixed runs when half is off road and half on. Best of both worlds!

Have the Asics Fuji, nice shoe but running on roads/paths wear fairly rapidly.

The main disadvantages of trail shoes on road will be that they will be a bit heavier, the chunky sole may get worn down more quickly (though if you got 1000 miles out of your last pair.....) and they might not have quite as much cushioning.

As a general rule the "If it ain't broke...." principle applies, so if it worked for you before, then why change?
