On the OP issue I heard a saleman tell customers that only ASICS made proper running shoes as they were the only ones with gel inserts as they had the patent.
Also then said to buy same size as normal day shoes.
I think you acome across this sort of thing in lots of different shops.
funnily enough the brands they advise you against buying are always the ones that they do not stock.
When I got my first mountain bike in the 80`s I remember the lady in the shop was always on about "If you are going to buy a bike, the only proper makes are Raleigh and Townsend (i think)" Which happend to be the only 2 brands that she stocked.
Salesman`s Licence I think it`s called
Cant beat Adidas glides, got me though my last marathon
Decent Sales people don't lie. Sales Clowns do, normally because they either don't know their stuff well enough or they think they will lose a sale by just being straight. Ironically, the best way to sell to someone is to explain things as they are?! People tend to appreciate this. Anyways, Nike and Adidas both make decent running shoes, I had some Adidas shoes a while ago and they were definately for running and not for posing!!.
only been to up and running once .... travelled there as they sent out a thing about 40% off asics.......went they and they told me they didn't have any asics 1100 series there which is one of the popular brands.....they persuaded me to have the treadmill analysis and they recommended a pair of saucony.............bought them and was injured within a few weeks.......
then looked on the net and discovered this was the totally wrong type for me...
went back to the good old fashioned running shop in cardiff and got som,e more asics and have been fine for years since.......
would never go to up and running ever again.took advantage of my naivety
I suppose it would depend on which branch of Up & Running you go to. The people in the Harrogate branch are great. If they think something's not right for you, they'll recommend that you don't buy it, even if that means you walking out of the door having not bought anything.
It's hard trying to buy Adidas adizero Tempo, my choice for reps/10/halfs.
Sweatshop are pretty good for a selection of trainers at the MK branch, really should be one in the Bmth / Poole area really, there's enough population to support one.
Its downhearting when you go into some shops and its just Asics Asics Asics...
Adios 2's - I just love em......
