Does anyone know if there is a decent online shop that sells slightly better/technical gera gear than standard high street nike/addidas/asics etc. - The ladies seem to have it sorted with three specialist store: SheActive, Girls Run Too, and Minx Girl - all stock different stuff from Sugoi, Pearl izumi, Salomon etc what about something similar for the lads instead of the bog stamndard through Sweatshop and the like. there must be someone out there wiht the nouse to stock something different.

I think the nike & asics stuff wokr shte best of any brands. If you want better try going for merino wool sports tops - they are natural wicking tops, don't stink, are more comfortable & are good as base layers too.

I got one top from groundeffect.nz - they ar a cycling store but I'm sure suoi & pearl izumis main market is cyclists too

try outdoor shops like Snow and Rock, Blacks and Ellis Brigham. They stock stuff from companies like Salomon, North Face etc.

Maybe climbing shops.

Also try watersports shops, windsurfing, surfing and stuff like that.

I bought an Oakley surfers rash vest for 17 quid. Its as warm, breathable, wicking and technical as anything you can get from a running shop.

Also try looking in the Rugby section of online shops. They supply lycra/synthetic technical tops for use under rugby shirts. And if they can withstand the sort of thrashing that those blokes give them, they should be ok for runners.

the 'northen runner' site looks more like the sort of thing i'm looking for - they stock Hind , which seems almost impossible to track down in the UK but is great stuff, thanks

My personal favourite is Sugoi and then Hind.
Sugoi is usually sold as Tri Gear so try those types of site. Fortunately my local shop sells Sugoi and occassionally Hind

Anyone know where Hind stuff can be found on the net - I've tried emailing Hind USA but just got an auto email response, very helpful... NOT

and yes Wiggle are greta and have been using them for years for bike stuff but their running stuff is very average

I reckon Odlo is the best, I had never heard of them until I got one in a race.

What about supporting your local running shop?

Failing that, the "soccersports" chain (that includes Lillywhites) stocks tech running stuff.

Faining that, hit your local mall, and the Nike store will have a running section.

Look at labels - I only buy Nike DriFit (I don't touch Nike shoes tho!) Or adidas / hind / asics equivalent.

Blackers, I'm an internet man. I live on an Island (much smaller than yours, the UK) and there are few sports shops, little choice and prices are high.

When the postman comes, its like Christmas.
