Does anyone know if there are any legal restrictions on where you can scatter the ashes of a deceased relative?

I know you sometimes hear of people doing this at the deceased's football club, at sea , or some other place of meaning to them, but someone has advised me that it is illegal to dispose of aches anywhere other than at a crematorium.

Sounds like codswallop to me, but need a difinitive answer.

I don't know if it's illegal, but unless you do it on Tower Bridge at noon, who is gonna know it?
