I've recently become a bit obsessed with bagels, after reading how many carbs they have for fuelling runs. Though i just wanted to check what sort are generally best to eat. Im eating new york co plain bagels, are these ok to complement running? or should i be looking elsewhere!? Thanks!

Try Sainsbury's wholemeal bagels with peanut butter on top, that's what I use for after my long runs.

I doubt very much that there's a discernible difference between a New York Co bagel, Sainsbury bagel or a Tesco bagel...

I think the best ones to eat are probably the flavour you like best. I like cinnamon and raisin ,Yum Yum!

Any bagel is a good bagel. Another vote for the cinnamon and raisin. I'm also partial to Tesco's caramelized onion bagels.

The best bagels are homemade ones - boiling them is strangely pleasurable

Support your local independent baker - mine does lovely bagels, so fresh compared to the ones which've been sat around in packets under supermarket lights.

Wormy - would you mind sending me your recipe?  (Doesn't have to be gluten free.)
