or as I refer to my province...the spawn of Scotland.

Apartment booked with DLR.  He's more scared than me and that's how I like it.  We're about a mile or more from the start too Orbutt, on the bandenburger gate thingie side.

Spawn of Scotland - class.

'The Brandenburger Gate thingie...' You have much to learn, young one...

Seriously though, that's perfect really - but really, wherever you are in the city, JPenno, a long as you're on a U-Bahn or S-Bahn line, you're fine - head for Friedrichstrasse and walk down ith the rest of us, atmosphere superb.

yup, that's me, all class.  I learnt a fair bit last time I was in Berlin (all cultural of course but that depends on your definition of culture).  Didn't sleep for 24 hrs.

I've never been to Germany but I've got a plan for the whole cultural thing:

1) Watch Caberet & Run Lola Run for the culture

2) Watch dr Strangelove for the accent

3) get myself an Earworms CD and listen to it in the car during Spetember

I don't recommend coming near me during the weekend or you're likely to get a history tour! I've taken 2 groups of school kids to Berlin in previous years as part of my history degree. I had one group in tears and the others were all quiet for the rest of the day

I *love* Lola rennt... thoroughly love the music.

Whilst you're on the plane - You need to sing as you lift off: BERLIN, BERLIN, WIR FAHREN NACH BERLIN!

What period did you study Emmy?

My specialism is German history between 1914-45 but i've done courses all the way up to 1989 and the fall of the berlin wall. I used to go to Berlin a fair bit to use their archives for my dissertation. Are you interested in history?
