Choice of shoes & where to buy them

Hi,

I am new to running and seeking advice. Does anyone know of any running shops in central Manchester or good websites where I could find the following?

I'm after a pair of running shoes for running on the roads but also suitable for rougher surfaces i.e towpaths, parks and fields etc. I have a very limited budget £30-40 max and as such want value for money. Where would be the best place to look? and what should I be looking for?

What are the best options? I have seen 'trail' shoes advertised as suitable for most terrain. Would these be a wise buy?

you are looking for trail/off road shoes.there are several good ones on the market for around 40.RW magazine has some good mail order bargains.check out the shoe rewiews on here too before making a choice.they are good
