How much do you pay?

I paid £100 last spring for this year's club membership, so it'll be at least that or more with inflation this year. We get affiliated entry, use of changing rooms, showers, bar, car park, discount at Sweatshop.

Another forumite just told me he pays £5 for the same thing at his club!!

I think I need to find another club!!!

What do you pay? Do pay one off fee, large or small, or a fee and then extra each time you go to a session?

We pay £30 in the first year but get a Club T-Shirt or £3 towards a club vest. £20 per annum thereafter.

Showers, changing rooms, coaching, numerous paced groups, car park plus 10% discount card at various running and local sports shops.

£100 is completely ridiculous.

£33 per year for my local club, but it isn't very friendly to be honest, so i don't go. We get same as you except discount at Sweatshop.

£15 for one, £13 for the other. Pretty much the same as you people.

£100 is downright greedy! where does it all go?

£25 I think - can't remember what it is for families.
£1.40 ish for a track session - try to avoid those where possible.

Who pays £100?? :-0

£17 at Barnsley AC - all the same stuff you get Sezz.

Just seen the first post - £100 is waaaaaaay too much.

They also have social activities - dinners, socials etc - but you guys probably all have that too. We also get free entry into the club run each month. No t-shirt though.

Still doesn't justify £100 though.

7 quid a year. No idea what you get as never been to the club but you get 10% at sweatshop so it's worth it anyway.

I joined by post, renewed by post and apparently they have a lot of postal members who do exactly that. www.windlevalley.com which is apparently near me. Seems stonking value.

£34 (including £2 to NoEAAA) no extras, includes use of Council Leisure Centre equipment; showers anytime when training around the area, car park etc.Almost all of that goes on the hire of the sports hall in the winter for circuits and somewhere safe and warm for the kids to train. We have a very cheap real ale brewery across the road (at no extra charge)

£100 is excessive...sounds more like a bloody golf club

I pay £12 per year for the club membership and then an additional fee to the SAF can't remember how much it is.

blithburyrunner - if you show your club membership card at any Sweatshop, you automatically get 10% discount regardless of whether or not your club has explicitly specified this. You also get 10% discount just for being on these fine forums - mention that you are a member of the URWFRC (unofficial runners world forum running club). Any problems getting the discount, email myself or annajo.
04/01/2006 at 22:25
(ps, you don't get the 10% forum discount on top of the 10% club discount - that would just be being greedy!!)
04/01/2006 at 22:28
Not just Sweatshop, most proper running shops will give some discount (except JJB)

PS Sweatshop has colonised the south and the midlands, even spread to Edinburgh but missed out the cultural wasteland in between

£100 to join a running club!

£16.00 per anum, all the usual, shower, bar, discount in running shops, coaching and insurance (does anyone know what the insurance is for?)

accidents on organised club runs?
04/01/2006 at 22:46
£20 a year gets us cheap entry to the gym where we meet, free use of the showers after training, use of the running track, discount in running shops, coaching and club insurance

£100... way too expensive.
04/01/2006 at 22:46
£15 I think - get the 10% discount and all the rest, just have to pay extra for the track

£100 is taking the pi55

Pizza Man

Probably public liability insurance in case you injure someone on a run through your negligence. Chavicide will be excluded.

OOK! Actually, I think you'll find that the cultural wasteland in between the Midlands and Edinburgh has actually been colonised by Sweatshop over at Chorley. Tis just the North East mate that they missed out...

;o)

Sezz But did "another forumite" tell you that his £5 quid club is a bit rubbish and they have no structure to their sessions..?

;o)
