Very sorry to hear about your daughter in these circumstances Batmouse.

Please! don't blame yourself... you didn't let your daughter down. It is obvious from your note that she is a very lucky girl to have you as such a loving parent!

((Batmouse))

This is really, really not your fault - your sister has been irresponsible here.

((((Batmouse)))) hope your daughter recovers quickly and I will repeat what everyone else is saying, you are not responsible.

With regard to rescue dogs, you have no idea of their history and how they were socialised as puppies, I would never completely trust my own dog with very small children as he hasn't had alot of contact with them.

No I don't think you should feel responsible here either Batmouse. Nor should you distrust your own dog too much.

What HC says about rescue dogs is quite right. The Ridgeback is a rescue dog, and the big caveat to everything we were told about her was "Really we just don't know".

It takes a lot of time and patience to settle a fully grown dog into a new home, especially if its been badly treated or has lived rough. You can't just plonk them down in a whole new world and not expect some problems.

My daughter is picking up thanks everyone. She has started to climb everywhere again. I now need some form of nerve tab as I am sure she is trying to give me a heartattack!!! But not as much as my poor dog. She was throwing peek a boo blocks at the dog over the baby gate the dog was just standing wagging its tail and bringing them back to be thrown again!!!! The joys of parenting.
