I see that Reading is named on the parkrun website (http://www.parkrun.com/, though the link gives no information except that one is planned for August 1st.

Does anyone have any information about location, or confirmation that this is going to happen?

'Parkruns' are weekly timed 5Ks, and would be a good inducement to me to get running again, and to keep going through the summer.

I haven't heard anything about that until now - looking at the website they don't seem to know much about it either! Whereabouts are you? I think the Basingstoke Parkrun is pretty well established, could give you somewhere to go before Reading starts up.

Or if you are to the East, there is Black Park north east of Slough.

Thanks. I'm aware of the Basingstoke parkrun, but it's a 20 mile drive which I don't fancy for a 5K. If the Reading one was, say, Prospect Park, it would be only 3 miles or so, which I would happily walk/jog/bike to.

I'm sure the Basingstoke event is superb, but it's too far for a 5k run. I'll hang on for the Reading one on August 1st, wherever it turns up!

it's been put back to September 5th

I am kind of hoping it will be at Palmer Park as that is nearer to where I live, also a lap of Palmer is 1 mile. although Prospect is a bit bigger.

I had a mail from someone at Park Run saying that the Reading event would be at Thames Valley Park, opposite Oracle.

I'm glad it's definitely happening though am disappointed it's over that side of Reading. Not much looking forward to getting across Reading by car or bike If you live near Palmer Park, it shouldn't be too far to TVP.

didn't microsoft use to organise a 'not quite 5k' event around TVP?

there's some nice paths round there for sure, hopefully the blokes with model aircraft won't be divebombing us like they usually do.

TVP is a 10 minute jog away so it works rather nicely as a warm up
