Whats your favorite running quote? It can be from a famous person, motivational or even funny.

This one from nike is great because its so true...

"There are clubs you can't belong to, neighbourhoods you can't live in, schools you can't belong to, but the roads are always open."

What do you think?

From SG, on running apparel, "you were told in the third post what to do. Wear some damn pants!"

That is the worst quote ever.It tells you three things you can't do and one you can. How is that motivational?

I don't care what you do, when you do it, how you do it - JFDI.

I read somewhere my other favourite that I use on runs: This, too shall pass. It works perfectly with my footsteps on long runs.

You know you've been on a site too long when people are quoting you

I do wonder if that chump took the advice though...something didn't add up about his behaviour...

Best motivational quote i read, which is printed on some of my club's t shirts is from Tergat...

Ask yourself: 'Can I give more?'. The answer is usually: 'Yes'."
-Paul Tergat, Kenyan professional marathoner

Actually not a running quote, but still relevant.  From cricketer Sir Richard Hadlee's autobiography on the pyschological aspect of sport:

"Remeber, you dont' get tired, you just get pleasantly weary."

I like this one

I think there is no better way to invite a human being to view their body differently than by inviting them to be an athlete, by revering one's body as an instrument rather than just an ornament. It's a really great way to reorient how you see your body so you can see it as this incredible, awe-inspiring machine that you need to fuel well in order for it to function.

SG, the instruction sounded like you were addressing a member of a sales team.

"You must have a training routine so that what you do happens automatically. If I got up in the morning and thought about going for a run there would often be a number of possible arguments against it. The thing is to get out and run. Later you can wonder whether you should have or not."
Rob de Castella

"Running well is a matter of having the patience to persevere when you are tired and not expecting instant results. The only secret is that it is consistent, often monotonous, boring, hard work. And it's tiring."
Robert de Castella

Two good running quotes from Rob De Castella

"When a person trains once, nothing happens. When a person forces himself to do a thing a hundred or a thousand times, then he certainly has developed in more ways than physical.
Is it raining? That doesn't matter. Am I tired? That doesn't matter, either.
Then willpower will be no problem."

This one is a cracking quote from Emil Zatopek.

When the going gets tough, I draw comfort from the thought that running is just putting one foot in front of the other, then doing it again. It's really very simple

Elli, I really like the quote you posted.

Good quote. After a little injury spell myself, i realise that injury is the only valid excuse for not getting out there. Weather or tiredness truly are nothing to worry about.

+1 for Elli's quote. Just a bit long to get on a bracelet though

this is mine, but cant remember who said it, sorry:

"it's not so much a miracle that I finished,

it's more a miracle that I started"

and i like this one Liz posted:

"After a little injury spell myself, i realise that injury is the only valid excuse for not getting out there. Weather or tiredness truly are nothing to worry about"

This could be a pretty good quote with a little tweaking.

''Good luck and don't be shit'' is another one; think it may have been Marigold.

Stevie: I found that Zatopek quote above when doing a piece on sports mental rehersal at University a couple of years ago. We had to describe how we performed and then  mastered a new task.

Nike advert a few years ago: You either ran today or you didn't.'

I had this on my desk at work and a work running colleague used to say it motivated him to go out running at lunch time even when I wasn't there.

He also said that the knew he first thing I'd ask him on my return to work, was how the previous days run had gone.

I like the thought behind Ellis post - a nice angle on running - but, a bit like Alanis Morisette, it does go on a bit
