RW: Could you not pass this cr@ap onto Advertsing or Trading Standrad s ? Something HAS to be done.

09/06/2012 at 10:19

DelB, SD, in this case its not really the moderating team that should have done something to avoid this, its the actual developers of the forum software that should be sacked.

They've had enough warning this was coming, and were more than aware of the techniques being used, yet they steadfastly refused to do something about it (even though thet have been offered help too!).

There really is no excuse for it, except pure laziness and a cba attittude, both of which should result in P45's for those concerned !!

Can we have a function on this forum where you simply hover over the posters name and have an option to 'ignore' this individual? Would be much quicker and easier than the way we have to do it now. I wonder if this would be possible?

Soup Dragon, Bruce C - I frequent another couple of forums which have 8-10 regular and/or long-standing forum members as moderators, so there is generally always someone around to tidy up threads and block spammers. Is there no chance of them employing such a system here?

RUNNING forum absolutely WRECKED .

09/06/2012 at 11:24

They're even spamming this bliddy thread!  I've got used to most of the changes now but not the level of spam...

09/06/2012 at 11:42

There's so many pages of spam on general now, you literally can't find any proper threads!

And the earliest they'll sort this is Monday now!!

You can't even set proper threads back to the top as the new spam threads are coming every few minutes

they need to use a system where either your first post is verified, or you have to key in manually 2 randomly generated words...they tend to stop this kind of spam

My two randomly generated words of the day

Fucking spam

I wonder if this is part of an evil RW masterplan to have us all migrate to Fetch?

09/06/2012 at 12:37

even with the forums in this state they're still easier to navigate than the fetch forums

Member of other forums that do similar things.

This is just pants. I hope that someone somewhere will take us seriously and realise just how angry we are about this.

OK, anger doesn't help much but it needs to be said. RW forum is facing an exodus of regulars.

Come on RW stamp on this!!

Yes, I'll be visiting way less often if I find the front page of general bombed the way it is at the moment.

Got to get a handle on this, even if people's first 35 posts don't show up until they're reviewed by a moderator. I'm sure some of the regulars would volunteer to moderate.

Just had a look, and I have to agree with Stevie; Fetch is the worst set-out website I've ever seen. That's simply not an option.

Radicchio: this must be second worse then. Compared to other forums, the moderation is a joke. Notice how even without the spam we end up with about 20 threads on the same subject.

Just in case anyone is still out there - read the obituary columns in tomorrows papers.

RW forums have been announced dead.

09/06/2012 at 22:16

i love how there are more and more threads popping up moaning about spam...a little ironic as they're bloody spamming it themselves

09/06/2012 at 22:21

What do you expect Stevie when no-one is telling us anything and the spam now runs to more than 100 pages?

As Mouse says the Forum is dead unless someone fixes this - the stuff is still coming, sometimes at the rate of three or four posts every minute.

As above. This is a well supported and very supportive forum that needs to be moderated professionally. I really think that the spammers could be easily deterred; just ensure all new users need to be approved (by a moderator), block isps as needed and delete suspect threads quickly.

10/06/2012 at 02:20

Just wondered if this is the only thread left....the rest is all football spam. WHY???!!!

I don't get it? What's the point? Its only going to get deleted anyway and its not even going to get anyone interested, not going to make any sales- they may have been able to with just the odd post stupid/naive people may have fallen for but 1000 odd? No one is that stupid!
