Free Running Economy and VO2MAX Tests!!

Hi guys,

I'm a Masters Physiology student at the University of Chichester and for my dissertation I'm examining the effects of environmental temperature on running economy (and therefore running performance). I'm on the look out for willing subjects, running economy tests usually cost around the £100 mark and I'm offering them for free (we all like free stuff!)

It would require three separate visits with four tests, the first is a VO2MAX test (so you can have a free VO2MAX test too!) and the last three are running economy tests in three different temperatures (based on lowest, averaged and highest temperatures at the London Marathon over the years).

Sadly, I can only accept male subjects (sorry ladies but we're just too difficult!) and if you can run equivalent to a 10km in less than 50 minutes (or a 5k in 23 mins) or have done so in the last 12 weeks then I'd love to hear from you. If you're interested, know anyone else who might be or fancy more information, please don't hesitate to contact me either by email: rcomott1@chi.ac.uk or via call/text: 07547 807 665.

Thanks,

Rachel

hang on a sec Dave - she's not mentioned an age limit here but if memory serves me right from my local Sports Science dept rules, you and I are too old. it's an insurance thing as they are not covered for over-50's if we pop our clogs on the treadmill......

anyway - add all the surveys up and I think we have the best part of a PhD thesis non??

and Rachel - a word of advise - this is an open forum inhabited by weirdos and trolls. posting your e-mail address and mobile number is likely to get you some freaks.......get people to contact you via the PM method in your profile and then you can decide whether to reply

That's a fair point... how do you edit posts?

Can you see an 'edit message' button along the bottom of the first post, along with the quote, send to friend, etc?  I think it disappears after a while...

It's a shame that (a) you're not nearer London and (b) my hip's buggered, cos I'd be up for this.  Ne'er mind.  Good luck with the dissertation.

[edited to change 'edit' to 'edit message'.  How very postmodern!]

Damn.. I thought I was in with a shout.....

Ageist I tell you .....

I still keep filling that survey over in Tri when I'm bored.  Think I'm the one legged lesbian transvestite who goes sub 3hrs for a marathon again this week

That would be worthy of an article in RW - although only if you'd lost 4 stone during training for the sub-3.

Hmm, tempting - When would these tests be?
05/05/2011 at 19:39
and where would they be?

Spadger - I think the OP answers that - University of Chichester aka WSIHE (known as Wishie) to us of an older persuasion - West Sussex Institute of Higher Education....

The tests can be whenever suits you between now and the end of June
