Is there any one out there that would like to have a very last minute entry into the Highland Cross. I am having to pull out on doctors orders, The event is on Saturday 19 June. If you knw this event it is a 20 mile walk or run through Glen Affric followed by a 30 mile cycle from Cannoch into Beauly. Teams consist of 3 people and at the moment VRF (my hubby) and Nessie make up the rest of the team. Entry is £20 plus you have to raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship per person. Our team has done it now for the last 2 years. So if anyone fancies taking my place for this year as I hope to be fit enough to do it next year then please e-mail me asap. The team can enter with only 2 runners taking part as long as we raise the £300 but this would give someone a chance to do this event as it is an invitation event and not easy to get into.

Hi Benz
Yep doctor won;t let me run even if I was feeling fit enough which I am not. He has put me back on the antibiotics and signed me off work for another two weeks. Says I can't risk the race as going through mud and rivers and over rough ground is not a good idea when trying to recover from cellulitis. Am gutted to say the least.

I fully intend to. Just feeling a bit fragile and down just now. Hope someone fancies doing this is my place but if not it won't matter. Got to go just now but will catch you later. Take care.

I'm up to £153 in sponsorship so far, aiming for £200 as I haven't "done" the families yet, so fundraising won't be an issue for anyone able to do the race.

Boing....

Anyone??

ooooooh! just seen this! I'm very tempted although I wouldn't be fit for the cycling bit. I'd be ok on the running bit after doing FLM though. Can I think about it? Although if you get someone else that would be fine. When do you need to know by?

I think the change of details has to be done pretty soon, scoobydoo. I don't have my info with me, but it could be the end of this week.

You'll be fine for the cycle - the first 10 miles are downhill, then it's flat for a good while, and there's only one significant hill that a lot of people push their bikes up (I've never had to do that yet, even last year when I'd only been out on my bike twice before the race......)

Go on, you know you want to.......

I do want to! how hard is the run? oh golly, I can't do any work, I'm all excited!I should be able to let you know for sure tomorrow. But would I be too slow for your team? I did 3:34 at FLM, but really my cycling isn't up to much. I'll e-mail you so we can discuss some more if that's ok?

oh, and I'm really, really sorry speedy that you can't do it :-(

There's no time limit scoobydoo, all you need to do is finish. I have entered as a walker again this year (lack of training due to tomorrow's house move - eek!), as I did last year. I took 8 hours 23mins overall - just under 2 hours for the cycle, so roughly 6.5 hours for the foot section.

Sorry, can't do it after all :-(
Hopefully someone else can take up the challenge and complete your team.
best of luck!

Ah Scoobydoo sorry you can't make it. Its a great day. Really wish I was doing it but leg is not good enough. Nessie may have someone else but thanks for thinking about it

Unfortunately, my friend can't do it now. Still trying, but if there's anyone out there..........
