Just looking through the UK marathon rankings for September in British Runner.

10th place is Dennis Walmsley (M40) with...

Sept 7th - Wolverhampton - 2:34.32
Sept 14th - Battersea Park - 2:34.22
Sept 21st - Nottingham - 2:32.56

Timothy Rainey - have you mentioned this feller in the past as being an elite ultra runner? Would these just be training runs?

Nottingham must have been an easy course ;-)

Just been reading about Dennis in British runner- he came first in a 50 mile race, the marathons must have been sharpeners.

LLL at your rate of improvement it won't be long now.
Check out Shades if you want an example of what can be done. She claims to only have been a serious runner for 4-5 years, but has just joined the 100 marathon club.
Her recent times are around 4:30, but that is once a fortnight & in real races.

My mistake, she's been running 5-10 years, but just try adding it up for yourself.

Wonder how long it took to get that consistant. I shall add his profile (if I can find one) to my running folder alongside Steve Jones.

He is the 50/100 km ultra champ. Would be interested in how he recovers or his position on overtraining.

Denis Walsmley operates a luxury chaffeuring business, obviously drives every where. So he's probably glad to do a bit of running!!! Nice chap met him At Majorca Mar,i think he ran 2:24 that day.
14/10/2003 at 17:13
Are you sure it's not a rickshaw business?
14/10/2003 at 18:32
He must be fitter than me or just mad.
14/10/2003 at 19:07
So, do I have this right? All you need to do is start training for 100k races and you'll start running 2:30s at the drop of a hat. I'm there. (how long the rest of me takes to catch up is a different thing altogether)
14/10/2003 at 19:12
Or maybe, Dodge, you train to be able to run sub 2:30 pace at your long run pace every week and THEN go out and win 100km races...

NO NO NO NO dodge, 2.30 is the time of day you will finish if you start at 0900!
