Jimmy Saville - General running

How sad to hear about the death of Jimmy Saville.

He apparently ran some 213 marathons for charity & had a distinctive running style hardly lifting his feet off the ground. Apparently he returned some pretty good times.

Does anyone have any info about his times? I'm struggling to find much on the net but plenty about his other interests such as wrestling & semi pro cycling.

He used to run about 3:30 and considered anybody slower to be a jogger.

All complete unfounded rumour from what I can see, mixed in with David Icke and masonic nonsense!

Seems to centre on him possibly once visiting some home (not proven) where at some other time abuse happened.

There's been literally dozens of stories about him over the years being, at best, a dirty old man and at worst something else entirely. I know of two instances when he had an office at Stoke Manderville hospital that were swept under the carpet in case they scared off their fundraising benefactor.

But you remember the nice old man who fixed it for all those nice kids to come sit on his lap and tell him their wishes

Years ago a friend sent me a copy of the Jimmy Savile Have I got News for You out-take script. At the time I took it to be genuine but it probably wasn't.

With some of these people (say Jimmy Saville or Cliff Richard (not David Icke!)) it seems as though we almost want there to be something grubby lurking in their closet.

I'm pretty sure that if the dirt was genuine we would have heard all about it.

equally speaking, if you talk to some people who knew Jimmy Saville in real life (and I know of at least one forumite who did) then they will say that was an "old pervert" (their words not mine). it wasn't elaborated on what was meant by that 2 word comment but you can draw certain assumptions from it.....

many famous people have managed to keep stuff out of the mainstream that has come out either towards the end of their life or shortly after. Rock Hudson springs to mind here as one example

as they say, the truth will out whether Saville's family want that or not - and if there is anything to be said.

to my knowledge, there's no concrete evidence of anything "dodgy" connected to jimmy saville, but, that said, Michael jackson got off too...........and O.J.Simpson......
