A place to discuss running in Lancashire
Last Sunday SJC.
Finishing on other side of the river was when Welcome Inn split / closed and Shaws Arms was HQ. New people at Welcome OK with road races.
Wish I had not signed up for Welcome Inn or I would have stayed in bed until the weather cleared around 12.00
lol yes the weather was horrendous !! I got hailed on, rained on and almost blown into the road several times...... cant imagine it was pleasant to race in. Esp the pre-race waiting around. I bet there was no delayed start that day!
What route did it take / is it mapped anywhere ?
I did welcome tavern race last week. Very wild and wet but funny enough got a pb at 44.31 how can that be on a really bad day. Whos doing winter warmer on 9th? Im on duty at 5k mark.
excellent going rick, i am currently ummm'ing and arr'ing over the winter warmer. Did it last year, its tough going but very enjoyable esp the finishing on a track.
Did you do winter warmer? I was marshaling at 5k bend. Doing oulton Park hm in 2 weeks.
no didnt go along in the end. I am pretty sure i'll do the trimple 20 next month though.
How did it go, the weather was pretty miserable in the morning.
I`m not back over in Lancs until April for the new Valiants HM which sounds nice. I`m not doing a great deal of training but I did grab a 10k PB this month doing the Dewsbury 10k in 42.47.
i might do valiants race. did know it was new, ive heard its flat and fast.....do you know of a course map anywhere ?
No but I was given a free entry by Alan Taylor and it does sound good!
free entry!! lucky you, how did you get that ?
I got a free entra after oulton park. The advertised medal didnt happen at end of race. Sorted it out now with them.
oh excellent, i think i will come along and run that race and trimple too.......
Ive entered the trimple 20 and the valiant HM. Not looking forward to trimple in some ways and boy have they upped their entry fee.....but i could get a PB in it and if the Valiant Hm is as flat as they say then that too could be a PB.
Hows everyone's training going ? I start my marathon training next week!!! tough times ahead!!
Im upto 45 miles a week now and same on my bike. Got every sunday free this month to get my 20 mile runs done.
Good luck for Trimpell 20 Simon. To do a 20 mile race before you start marathon training is very impressive indeed!
Had a great time at the Stanley Park 10k last weekend - weather was perfect which made a nice change .
Next up for me is Wilsmlow Half on 23rd March - anyone else doing that one?
Hi, I got a free entry from being the 200th entrant into Inskip. Looking forward to it although training has been up `n` down a bit. Not really focussing on key sessions at the moment but just running instead, and enjoying it!
thanks tiny, i am not sure how i will do, but i have done a few 18 and 16 mile runs over the last couple of months, so fingers crossed i should be able to get around. I am planning on sticking to a consistent pace all the way around, well at least till the 17 mile point. And this should give me a good idea of what shape i am in going into my training for Wales. Which actually beings today!!!
Ah lucky you Egyptian, im down for the race and looking forward to it!! Hopefully your training will come together soon, the main thing is that your enjoying it, which you seem to be.
Last long run done before Manchester and did a 18.65 miles and finished on 7.58 min/miles. Really happy with that after doing 50 miles last week.
That's great going Rick hopefully you can repeat that in Manchester
I got 2:27:53 in trimpell and I'm very pleased about it too
hows every ones running going ? Jantastic is coming to an end and i have to say it was well worth it.
