Post details of your last run and what you think of it
Wed 7.00pm - 7.2km (30.10)
warmed up for 2km and pressed hard for the following 5km - enjoyed having a short sharp run for a change but I think easy runs for the next few days would be sensible
good running everyone
5M Fartlek done. Cold when out, so wore gloves for 1st time this autumn.
club run with a torrential rain shower for 11k at 5.10m/km. followed by a talk about the cross-country season for us club newbies - looks like a lot of muddy fun, and an excuse to get yet another pair of running shoes.
@cidlad take it easy, hope the ankle holds up for the big race. @dunkyd some good sessions - you must be heading for a sub-45 10k, i would think!
8.8miles plod along this morning. Giant pigs and 4 magpies together, so I'm betting my pregnant friend has a boy.
@baldbloke did a 10k a couple of weeks ago and did 45:09 - grrr, it did have a congested first 2k though Aiming for a sub 1:40 HM in a couple of weeks which'll be 5 mins off my PB but I've been puttnig the work in so fingers crossed.
@ cidlad - ahh, the 14th, good luck for then, then. Where is it?
big10k, Bexhill on sea.. my first ever 10k run. Finished in 51.02. Since I have only been running for 4 months, i am quite chuffed with the time. Signed up for my first half marathon in 5 weeks.. it's gonna hurt !
On Tues eve. Tipping down and cold - ran 4.25 miles in 33.38. Absolutely busted a gut doing it. Ran with a friend who put's in a very serious 43 minute 10k and he reckons I'm improving rapidly. I've just started running again after a year out through a mixture of family issues, Injury etc and it feels amazing to be out and around. Let the mind wander - thought about future runs, thought about wine, wondered if United will win the Prem (no they won't) remembered part of my route from my childhood .. Good run. Good to be back.
Went out on Exmoor today because the forecast was good! Did 23 km in 2h 40m, very hilly, went up to the highest point on the moor. Got a couple of good soakings but felt strong; preparation for the Exmoor Stag seem to be going well! Saw several Deer, an aircraft taking off from a field, a 22 Sqn. Sea King flying low and as ever the most spectacular views in the world. Have a good feeling of satisfaction
10 by 400ms with club tonight.
10 x 90 secs on 45 secs off tonight, did an average of 450m for 90 secs.
Evening all and good luck cidlad for the race
Been awol again.. Tuesday I did 4 miles and last night 6 mile club run in the pissing rain which was a right laugh. Got soaked to the skin
slow 5 miles home from work. took about 55 mins. trying the HADD low HR thing for a bit, see how that works.
Morning 4 easy miles.
Cidlad: All the best.
Did 20 mins warm up, 20 mins of hill work, 20 mins warm down.
Bunnies, sheep, cows and 5 deer and one with antlers (is that the stag?)
Sideburn's run sounds good!
8 miles in the dark this morning. Should have been 7, but I got confused about my routes and accidentally did the 8 mile one. Didn't realise until I was 2 miles from home and, according to my watch, I should only have been 1 mile away. For a little while I thought I must have been running astonishingly slowly without realising it.
Oh well, extra mile in the bank. Having a good week, this week. Still need to get out in the hills though - will do that Sunday, with possibly a short blast on Saturday.
Baldbloke, did I thank you last week for your words of encouragement / motivation? If not, thanks, very much appreciated And following your advice, I did about 12.5 miles today. It was fine. I was tired but fine and it felt much as training runs have done for previous HMs. Hopefully I've got over my mental block. So I have done three quarters of the 16 mile distance for the race I've got lined up in a few weeks. So I'm thinking that with 3 weeks to go, if I manage 13-14 next Friday as my final LSR before taper, I might give it a go. I won't be anywhere near as well prepared as I'd hoped, and I will run like a tortoise. But I reckon I might be able to do it...
A long run for me today and felt really fresh, only 10 miles but managed to do it quickly (for me at least) in 1hr 3mins.
Dunky, Nessie, baldbloke and birkmyre - Thanks for the good wishes - Liverpool Marathon 14th October - just over a week to gather up some strength
Some excellent running going on on this thread - glad to be part of it!
Fri - 1 hour easy running on the treadmill - not such a chore as it sounds
Good running weekend everyone
A 8.5 mile easy run this evening. Weather held out so it was a nice jaunt.
Helped out with the time-keeping at the club handicap (most stress for a while -- fellow runners, do respect the funnel at a finish !!), then did some intervals. 5x7mins at tempo pace (4.45m/km) - finishing pretty strong.
@nessie73 no worrries - your plan looks sensible to me. just be careful to start slow on the big day. basically the first 10miles will be a warm-up!!
20 miler today along the local canal. Started at 8am'ish and it was an absolutely beautiful morning.
When I started it was around 5 degrees, and I was running due East into the rising sun. It was very still, and there was mist rising up from the canal and a heavy dew left all of the spider's webs in the bushes glistening in the early autumn sunlight. The tow path was deserted for the first couple of hours and the few people I did meet towards the end were friendly.
One of those great runs we live for.
