12 mile run this afternoon along the canal. Perfect day for running and I was surprised I only saw a dozen people during the entire run.

Just as I turned around at 6miles my nose started bleeding and so for the last 4 or 5 miles my face and hands were covered in blood mixed with snot. By the time I got home I looked like Hannibal Lecter after he'd had his pals around for dinner. It was disgusting ! Never had that happen before.

Mind you, the bright red snot rockets were quite cool.

Hope the hound recovers well, cidlad.

7am on a cold, grey Merseyside morning and my running pal & I visited Crosby Coastal Park and Rimrose Valley for 5 miles, 80%+ off road

Whisper iot softly but the calf's holding together so far...

03/03/2013 at 10:24

swittle - thanks - and I'm glad to hear things are stable with the calf

Sun 7.00am - 90 mins hilly mixed pace run on the roads (19.3km)

frosty and cold - roads a tad slippy in places - awaiting some off road shoes that are on order - so looking forward to some runs involving less tarmac in the near future

push on everyone

Cid - That's terrible re your four legged running mate.  Hope he's back by your yomping side with haste.

Longest run yet for me, 20 mile LSR.  Dry, cool, still.  Perfect

I too snorted a big laugh at redjeep's post

22 mile run this morning.  Major gut problems due to fish and chips last night.  Ended up doing one mile shuttles between toilets.

Cidlad, hope Fudge is recovering and doing alright.

12.10miles offroad. Pace very mixed. I had some runners up ahead to chase for a while. In some other places it was like an assault course. 1hr33. Grey but mild and not too muddy. Really sad at the amount of fly tips I went past.

thought I might go down with a case of the Surrey Runners or the Strangely Browns after a double portion of spicy Piri-Piri chicken at lunch, but in the end got round an evening recovery run in Hyde Park for 11k at 5.15m/km.

feel sorry for Fudge but not for the stupid pooch who tripped up one of runners during the Club handicap yesterday. she got some nasty cuts (the runner, not the dog!)

4M Fartlek. Okay run. Dry with no wind.

04/03/2013 at 08:16

baldbloke - piri-piri chicken is well worth the risk of a mid-run toilet crisis IMHO

8m GA today, felt decent despite my 20 miler yesterday.  Cold morning but dry yet again.  It feels so long since I last saw rain, this must be one of the most elongated dry spells that Manchester has had in years, getting on towards 3 weeks now i'd say.

10.5m LSR on Saturday, new distance PB for me. Legs feeing it still but off for a short run this evening to try and loosen them back up.

Good work all, and well wishes to Fudge

PB woop woop! Followed my slightly strange strategy and felt strong throughout. Knocked 5 mins of the PB and clocked in at 1:32:30 - dead chuffed. My father-in-laws PB is now 5 mins away - he's getting twitchy!

Chin chin,

D

@dunky  Which HM was it?  Tasty time that

04/03/2013 at 15:30

superb work, Dunky! what's that more than 10 minutes off your HM time in 6 months?

04/03/2013 at 15:51

Cheers Guys

Nessie, it was Bideford, Devon - lovely run along the Tarka trail (well the last 2 miles didn't feel so lovely!)

Baldy, I hadn't even clocked that - yeah, October's PB was 1:44 something so 11-12 minutes off that! I'm over a stone lighter so that's helped, along with the improved fitness. Get the mara out the way then I'll focus on breaking 1:30 me thinks!

Lot of gippy tummies going around. Still, if it's good enough for the queen.
Congrats DunkyD on a great HM time.
Went out this evening for 7miles. Just under 44mins. Wasn't pushing, but slower than I'd like. Tired and dark which holds things up. Pace hardly varied at all though.

DunkyD - epic pb

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts about my hound Fudge - he was left in a bad way last week - he had further surgery today to repair a 3 inch wound that had severed deep through the muscle on his foreleg - Fudge lives for his runs and will be out of action for a few weeks - but I'll get him back out again when he is ready  - your kind words are greatly appreciated

Mon 7.00pm - 6.5km easy woodland trail run - recovery needed after a hard run yesterday

dig in everyone

04/03/2013 at 22:49

DunkyD - that's pasted your previous PB - well done!

Surrey Runner: I hear ya

My buddy, Jose & I braved cutting winds by Crosby Marina at 7am and put the world to rights: the run was over too soon!  Calf's better than it's been in 4 weeks

Despite the fatigue from the weekend managed five miles tonight. Ran with a different partner, this time another bloke instead of the lady I usually run with and pushed ourselves round in my PB. Even better than that, mile 5 was the fastest songle mile I've ever run. So I'm pleased Looking forward to seeing what I can manage tomorrow now!

4M Steady. Cold, bit foggy. Okay run.
