Good news Swittle, must be a weight off.
15.15miles on road in my vivobarefoots. Don't normally wear them for longer runs. Could have done with socks though as the base of my feet were sore at the end. Wore a new tee as well and my nipples also a bit sore. Have put a bit of aloe vera gel on them. Just over 2hrs. Lovely warm day.

Much appreciated, JT

How do you find the minimalist approach?

7:15am Knocked a minute off last Saturday's 5.2 mile time  but I'm sure it *felt* faster....  From the park to Crosby Baths, then trails up Burbo Bank, u-turning at the coastguard station and enjoying firm sand, a light breeze and the warmth in my aged bones!

Happiest in minimal shoes swit. Seem to suit me and don't like running in anything too cushioned or with a high drop. So out again today in some NB minimus/minibus trails. 19.6 miles, some off-road but mainly country lanes. Heated up and got tough by the end after yesterday's run. Wasn't actively tracking pace but round in 2hr37 and a bit. Happy with that.

Saw a crow eating the entrails of a baby bunny, lots of sheep, and a boy horse. Very definitely a boy. Speaking of which going through a gate didn't notice the metal bar sticking out at groin height. Avoided clattering myself in the balls as my penis got in the way.

Did the Swiss Alpine 42k in Davos. My first marathon and a mindblowing experience...scenery was awesome and it is a really inspiring event...future for me is definitely long runs, preferably in places as beautiful as the Alps...time was slow, but it was 30 degrees and there were a couple of huge ascents...and one of the great things about trail marathons is it's not about the clock anyway!

8.5 miles this morning with one of my club members, easy going 8 1/2 mins per mile pace. Was hotter than I was expecting though

JT - interesting to read your experiences with minimal footwear: not for everyone, I suspect, but doing you no harm at all, judging from that time

Heart congrats to baldbloke - a unique set of emotions will ensue!

John toffee - you're right about the temperature: ok at 9 when I went out for 12 along the coast but I knew it had racked up a few degrees when I landed back at base

I did 18km today in around 2 hours (6m:43s per km) which felt comfortable generally, but still about a minute too quick per km to where I am aiming for my long slow runs. It's an odd problem that I never expected to have, but everything I read regarding my specific pace tells me I should be going for between 7:30 per km towards 8 minutes per km, but that just feels way too slow to be honest. Happy with today's run though, it went well. A nice sea breeze followed by some fairly heavy rain for a while.  Summer seems to be slipping away now though!

Easy session first in a week.

Hey all,

I'm back in the game after a 5 day rest.

Sat - Parkrun with a 2 mile jog there and back. New PB for 5k - 20.01. 2 secs off breaking that goal!

Mon - 7 miles - 5.5 tempo, then a jog at the end as traffic was annoying me!

Chin chin,

Good work, DunkyD

Every sign of a fresh, breezy summer's day as running buddy & I checked on the Iron Men on Crosby beach at 7am today.  5.2 miles in all, taking me to highest monthly mileage this year!  And 2 days to go as well

Baldie- fantastic race report, well done!

great pic swittle as usual.

We've been away camping since Friday morning and very little running to speak of except an incredibly beautiful 40 minute jog through the moors in Norfolk up to the beach and back.  Lots of walking and cycling though, not to mention ice cream, fish n chips and wine.  A great long weekend  Am hoping someone turns up for my mini-summer holiday running group tomorrow night.  As we teachers are off over summer, I've been remiss at organising, and my beginners have been slack

Lots to catch up on

3M Easy mainly off road. Dry, mild, no wind.

30/07/2013 at 07:49

Cheers Swittle. Baldie - that race sounds amazing - get any pics?

Ladder intervals this morning - 200m, 400m, 800m and back x 2 with 30 secs rec. Felt it but in a good way.

Morning Dunky: Good session mate

30/07/2013 at 21:48

Me- 30 minute hills session, then 30 minute session as a run leader with my beginners' group doing a run / walk session, which also acted as a warm down

30/07/2013 at 23:23

7km for me tonight: 2.5k uphill, 2.5k downhill and then 2km flat section back to the start. Averaged 05:56 p/km (more or less my 10km pace). Weather was very pleasant... warm but not hot, it stayed dry and a light breeze. Couldnt fault it.

31/07/2013 at 07:45

Warm and sunny one again up here

3M Steady mostly off road, legs getting used to being back out.

31/07/2013 at 10:18

Nessie - good work leader!

Wish I had the same conditions as Simon or Birkie - caught in rain this morning on a 10 miler with no vaseline on. Chaffe central!

Did 5.4 miles this am and watched the super cool 3D rerun of the route that's on - made me feel great when I could see how far that is!

DD- Dunno about chafe central, my runs are more like chuff central boom boom! You know I have a puerile and immature sense of humour

This morning found myself in the enviable position of both kids being out and about for an hour and a half, so I snuck in a run, around 7-8 miles in the end I think
