Tough session Gregory.

Sorry Martin can't help you about Limerick.

Hill session on Monday night with the beginners group I took it easy as I was still a bit tired after Sunday. 6 x 4 mins on 2 mins off last night. Lovely night for running cold but no wind.

can anyone recommend A good sports shop to get a new pair of running shoes! I also would like to get my gait analysed in the shop by someone who knows what they are doing! Any ideas please! At present i am running in asics but finding my shin starting to get sore! I am trying for the walled city marathon and the miles are beginning to rise now, so i would like to get it sorted A.s.a.p, thanks !

Evening all, been lurking ere a while but this my first post an was hoping for some advice. I'm training for Belfast (1st mara) but I've never done a race before so last night signed up for dune half on 18 you's think it b wise to race full pelt or take it a little easier? I'd like to find out just how fast I could do it under race conditions but don't want lose ?3/4 weeks training after.

RAY up and running just up from city hall in belfast will sort you out , first class shop and knowledgable staff .

Sean king 4 give it a go shouldnt affect you for the marathon .

Cheers Gregory.

Sean - hello & welcome...... you should be fine to give it a good effort given that it's far enough out from Belfast. Try a mini taper next week... shorten your runs and do them at an easy pace and maybe take two days rest before the race so you are fresh and can give it your best.

Ray - would echo Gregory's comments re: Up & Running although have also heard Podium 4 Sport in Castlereagh are also good and will do gait analysis.

Winters not just away yet - 9 miler @ 8.22pace this evening: wet, windy & cold!

Ray, agree with Gregory wouldn't go past those guys, very knowledgeable and friendly ,now called pure running ,opposite Belfast Inst , will do gait analysis there and then , bring trainers you r wearing because they can tell a lot by the shape of them, doing Walled City myself ,good luck

Sean king 4 , hi!, also agree with Gregory but with one hesitation as a fellow novice, enjoy your first race they are great fun , the atmosphere is brilliant , have a fair idea what you can run 13.1 in and go for it , racing "full pelt " in Belfast means outta the blocks like a greyhound then sick as a parrot at 6 miles , is Dune the one with all the hills ? I'm doing Larne as a precursor to Belfast ,it's all good fun !
Best of luck , enjoy your marathon experience there's nothing like it :

Ricky, that's 2 nights in a row you've been typing at the same time as me (albeit once again I'm slightly slower) ,that's just plain weird ,where's that telegraph pole.................
06/03/2013 at 23:20

Martin.... "great minds think alike" or maybe " fools seldom differ" would be more apt...

There's a Magpie on the telegraph pole - I'm not going near it

Man, that's what I mean by just plain weird
