The last person wears a chip I think?
Also I think you have something to handover so last person must have that.
I've never done the last leg so not sure how stringent they are on the last part...
So how is the first person timed across the start line?
ive run the last leg in the marathon, indeed you get a chip if youre doing that last leg, and each time a changover happens theres a plastic armband that gets passed on - not sure how they time from the start though!!
Looking at last year's relay results and they just report one time (rather than finish time and chip time) so i am guessing you just get timed from the gun.
It's basically a gun time Mickie yes. The chip in the relay case is probably just to make the results easier.
Forecast looking grim for Larne - let's just hope if the winds get up that they are on our back on the return down the coast road!It seems the entry list for Larne has swelled to the extent it has crashed their website
10 x 400m last night with 1 min recovery.
Forecast for Larne changed a wee bit from yesterday still going to be cold and windy.
I need some of your enthusiasm to rub off on me! interrupted training due to injury & illness has left me feeling very unprepared for Saturday's challenge.
I should draw some positives from the facts that chest infection has almost totally cleared and injury has been diagnosed by my physio as a hip flexor muscle problem and I've had a couple of sessions to start sorting me out, with another lined up for Friday. Ricky & others rightly advising me to not beat myself up too much at Larne and remember it's the first of hopefully 8 races for me in this year's HM series.
Did I read in a previous post, Martin, that you've had problems with accidentally hitting your Garmin and stopping it? I was paranoid about doing the same with mine (405 model) until I realised I can lock it beforehand and then press 'start' as I cross the line, screen stays 'locked' avoiding accidental 'stop'. Sorry if you know this now already!
Hope everyone arrives at the startline on Saturday feeling healthy!
Think the shorts & vest will have to stay at home on Saturday.... temp to be +2degC but feeling like -4degC according to met office!
BBC Weather says: "Outbreaks of sleet and snow on Friday and Saturday, heavy at times. Bitterly cold with easterly gales"So looks like the coast road will take the brunt of the gales Larne's website is back up and running and I see Alwyn has managed to get a "cherished no. plate" type race no. ... must be who you know eh.. - good to hear the chest has cleared Alwyn!
Around 1200 runners pre-entered according to the list!6 miles tempo last night & 5.5miles tonight with 8 x 250 hill session. Considering taking two full days rest now before Larne - or maybe a quick loosener tomorrow night mmmm decisions decisions...
wee speed session tonight mile warmup 10*400 6minpace 200 recovery 2 mile cooldown .
good to loosen the legs up after 23miler on monday .
run tomorrow or rest till larne on sat ?????
will look out for you martin good luck on saturday .
if you see a red vest with the grinder wrote on the back that will be me
Gregory - I suspect your back is the only part of you I might see... for a few hundred yards at the start only! What's your target time? Will look out for a few of you - would be nice to say hello. Big field so more likely to find you after the race - Martin you and I prob won't be too far apart timewise so hopefully see you at the finish if I haven't seen you taking a hammer to your garmin beforehand
Don't know what my outfit will look like yet - will decide on the day.. this is worse than going to a wedding .... anyway I'm race no. 567
dont like to set times rickybut ran 1.35 2 yrs ago in larne would like to beat that , conditions may play a big part in how the race goes
