I'm new to running and doing a bit of a research project. Could anyone let me know how many people in the UK run on a regular basis.

Rough estimate would be fine.

Thanks

8. That's why a running track has 8 lanes. Notice they left the 9th lane empty at the olympics? Coincidence... I think not.

I think it's 23,345,654, but some of them run/walk

What do you count as a runner and what do you count as a regular basis?

Not surprisingly, if you Google "Number of runners in the UK" (don't know if you'd thought of that at all?) the first search result is a collection of times this question has been asked before on RW, generally with the same type of replies (and what can you expect) but this one does appear to have a useful reply regarding some genuine research that has been done on the matter.

I think we've covered it though.  The answer is definitely somewhere between 8 and 23,345,654.  And WiB - they've actually tended to use lanes 2 to 9 rather than 1 to 8.

I must have been looking at them upside down... an easy error to make.

I suspect the number is increasing... but are the same people running six months after they started... that is a whole other subject..

I saw three people running towards a bus stop where the 52B was waiting today, does that help?
