Hopefully we'll have Parkrun on the go in Aberdeen this summer.  Currently waiting for the final bit of funding to slot into place and that should happen soon.

Now looking for people to help out on a weekly rota with running the event and marshalling.  There are quite a few onboard already but this will only work if more people are ready to get involved.

The route will be down on the Prom and it's Saturday's at 9.30am.

Anyone who is interested in helping out please PM me through the RW site with email contact and I'll pass these on to the man with the list.  Or if you want to ask questions before committing your life away then that's fine.

We're hoping to get a few trail runs in July before the official start later in the summer ... yes, we're having a summer in Aberdeen this year

Hi there,

I keep hearing about park runs across the UK and I was just wondering what they are? I really like trail running so this might be something I'd enjoy.

Thanks very much.

This is what it's all about and coming soon to Aberdeen

Ours will be around the beach area for a variety of reasons, hope you'll manage to come along Donna or volunteer to help out.  Your parkrun needs you

It's a great way to get people involved in regular running, it's free and kids are very welcome.

I lived in Aberdeen for uni from 2004 to 2008 and my run used to be from Ardarroch Road (if people know it) down to the beach then two lengths of the prom.

Definitely up for this.

Boing boing

There's going to be a meeting to discuss getting the training going for organisers and volunteers on Wed 24th August, 7pm in the meeting room at Aberdeen Sports Village.  Hopefully agreeing on a start date too.  Anyone interested please come along or pm me for  more information.

It's been a year or so in the making Nessie so it will be great to finally get it underway.  Something like this is long overdue up here.

Is your mum coming along Ducky?  She'd be a great one to get involved as I realise you'll be away at Uni a lot of the time.  Let anyone who might be interested in helping out or taking part know, the more helpers there are the easier it will be.

Yeah we'll both be there. As you say I'll be away quite a bit of the time but I'll come and help out/run when I can. Quite a few fetchies are going to turn up as well - most of them from the Stonehaven club.

parkrun! Its BRILLIANT! Like pie and chips on pay day with a huge bottle of Tizer.( funny enough I was not the fat kid at school)

Did my long run over the Thames this morning and got back in time to  help marshall the Finsbury park parkrun.

If anyone knows Finsbury parkrun you will know the route and the "The Hill" !!! That you have to run up twice.

One guy afterwards swore it was a mile long.

Its not.

Really its not;)

Everyone I saw from the first to the last gave it the're all though. Which is the reason I always like to marshall that bit because I know its hard and I also know how much it means to be able to do it and carry on.

Hope you have fun in Aberdeen.
