My word processing programme corrects my spelling automatically (In theory) However, sometimes it decides to sneak its own words into my sentences.

The most embarrassing occasion was when I marked an essay, praising the student's 'much improved organisation skills' - Which came out 'Much improved orgasm skills'

Bet you had a hard time explaining that one!

We had a wonderful spell-checker years ago.  Being a headmaster's daughter, a linguist and a pedant to boot, I used to make sure my letters were spelt correctly etc.  I was surprised that the secretary kept returning them with incorrect spellings in obvious words, and words that I'd spelt correctly in the first place.  When I asked her about this -  she was copy typing - she explained that her pc used spell-check and automatically corrected certain words, no matter how they were typed in the first place.

I then asked her about the spell-check dictionary, wondering what kind of dictionary could spell as badly as this one apparently did.  "Oh, it doesn't have a dictionary, " she said "I just type the words into spell-check myself."

So that explained it.

Hahaha CJBA... and I bet she saved them

Re the 'orgasm skills'

I had a colleague who sent a letter of apology to a student apologising for the poor performance of his floppy dick... but if he brought it back to the office she could sort him out with one that works

Luckily, this was picked up before the letter was sent - I made sure it ended up on the notice board though.

The old ones are always the best.

Just like people.
