Big Five Marathon, it would have been Petra Marathon but that has been stopped now.

Me too. If we can just get UNESCO to reverse their decision. I visited recently and can't imagine a more spectacular start line outside the Treasury.

So why don't you just go do these events then?

Only one? how many goes at this question do I get?

I guess it's have to be a flat 5 or 10k as I really want to get a good time before I'm too old. I can run marathons when I'm past it - then it'd be Marathon du Medoc. I'd need to train for that quite hard. i'm worried about falling over around mile 11.

I can assure you that Medoc is suprisingly easy once you ease into it. The stopping at the wine stops is the best thing and they dont give you enough to get you completely sloshed.... that happens in the party tent at the end!

For me: Time, money, speed. I'm not fast enough to qualify for my races and don't have the time/money to devote to getting fast.

What about others?

I'd also like to do the midnight sun marathon in Norway.... i've heard a few people talk about it and it sounds like a fantastic one!

Fair enough Emmy... I am fortunate enough to have the necessary times/points for races I would like to enter where that is required. So for me cost is the hurdle, I wouldnt say cost stops me from running them but is certainly a factor in which ones I do and when I am able to do them.

Rio - Olympic Marathon?

Slightly more realistic would be Boston from a running perspective. From a Tri point of view then it's 'Norseman', but that wasn't really the question.

(My favourite is probably a local 10k as it marks the end of my season and time to relax - although it's not particulalry exclusive!)

Combe Gibbet to Overton 16 miles

Missed 2 thru injury, 1 due to Foot & Mouth outbreak, 1 DNF & 33 Finishes.

too right, I really can't see that a few dozen runners can cause as much (if not more) damage than the hoards there on a daily basis. it is simply a magical place and they could run the race at sunrise before the siq opens to the public.

My single event would be the Knacker Cracker - fantastic fun, great way to start the year, and I get to dress up

UTMB, and I will do it in the next 10 years.

Bikila that foot and mouth you got sounds nasty, hope you are ok now?

I managed to get a place in the Snowdonia Marathon this year which made me happy. Wouldn't mind entering the Trans Alpine too. Training is a bugger for either event though as i live in East Anglia and there isn't a hill to be found!

I'd go for the Vegan Welsh 3000's

The Welsh 3000's is the last thing on my "to do" list. Logistically it's a bit of a pain doing it solo, so an attempt as part of an organised event is ideal.

There is still time to enter and get in shape for this years event (June 16th.), but I'm struggling to get my head round running for 10+ hours since being totally destroyed by last years Outlaw effort. Next year I should be good to go.
