Pick an event

Curious question

If you could only pick ONE running event to take part in next year (assuming you could get entry to anything regardless of ballot/experience needed etc...) what would you choose???

The London Marathon.

Don't all yawn at once!  This is my worst record for any event: 4 entries; 1x finish + 3x DNS.  Bloody injuries!  I've become a bit of an expert spectator in recent years, watching all my club mates running round like bloody heroes.  My turn this time! 

(p.s. If all expenses paid, can I change that to the Great Wall Marathon in China?  That looks like a bit of a hoot.  Cheers!)

Honestly? I'd say western states or UMTB and to do it in a decent time. I know that i'd never have a shot at them because i'm so slow.

In reality - I'd like something like China or Tokyo Marathon.

Don't enter events which need ballots and too past it for events you have to be good to enter. But as we're wishing, my wish for next year is that they DON'T pull the funding for the Mens Health 10km as its my fave event of the year.

The Grizzly. Beautiful scenery, lots of mud & hills, and a great group of organisers.

Boston ...I've no hope of qualifying for it

Only one? how many goes at this question do I get?

I guess it's have to be a flat 5 or 10k as I really want to get a good time before I'm too old. I can run marathons when I'm past it - then it'd be Marathon du Medoc. I'd need to train for that quite hard. i'm worried about falling over around mile 11.

Big Five Marathon, it would have been Petra Marathon but that has been stopped now. 

This seems really lazy compared to yours, but 100m sprint! It's my best event and I'm starting athletics so I get to compete!

Mine would be the Loch Ness Marathon.  I work part-time, have a hubby and 2 kids at school but just cannot afford the travel and accommodation.  I used to joke after running my first London Marathon that I would like the solitude of the Loch Ness Marathon.  I have since run other marathons (South Downs being a favourite) and do indeed enjoy the solitude of the rural ones.

Mine would probably be Loch Ness too Liz. I was going to do it as well, as we usually go to Scotland every year and my wife was happy with my plan, but, plans have had to change and we now can't go in September. Gutted.

Another interesting question is, what if you could only do one more race, ever? I think mine would either be Comrades or Marathon des Sables. Not next year though, I'd like a bit more time to prepare!
