Does anyone know if it's possible to change the battery on a Polar HRM, or do you have to send it to Polar or what?

you have to send it to Polar, according to the shop who sold it me. Doesn't it tell you in the handbook?

There's a fiddly little metal plate that keeps the battery in in place so in all honesty, I'd strongly recommend sending it off to Polar.

Got it done in a local jeweller's - no problem but not all jewellers will do it

You can change the battery in the emitter strap yourself, although you need the little washers to make it watertight.

On the watch, you really should send it back to Polar, as they pressure seal them for waterproof-ness.
