JD - Stiff stick arrived, the 24" with black handles. Found a load of knots/bumps I never knew I had!! OUCH

10/11/2012 at 19:46
HWD- enjoy the pain! Same stick as me then, you can give it some welly if you need to!
NR- good running today, once again! If you ever start using your arms to help you run, the others have had it! LOL!
MM61/ WA- good to see you briefly, fellas
In hindsight, I ran most of the race today at tempo pace and then picked it up a bit for the last mile, picking off dozens. Loved the new 15mm spikes- felt totally in control even on sharp corners and the few areas of deep mud and puddles. The only issue was my Achilles both noticed the extra stretch due to wearing flat shoes- oh, and the couple of concrete sections felt like I was having nails driven into my feet Happy enough with a controlled effort- didn't stop my Garmin (!!) but think I was around 43.30 for 6.6m -??. Finished 120th....

Llys y Fran tomorrow anyone?
10/11/2012 at 22:26

Nope, not me.

I finished 56th. Down the field slightly to last time but really as careful as I did take snowdon it is not without its effect. Went off at my usual pace but the old lactic hit by 2 Miles ! I lost over 20 places from there on !

Should have known as I tried to do reps of Constitution Hill last wed, I sprinted up it, nearly died and threw the towel in my legs shaking at the top. I can usually do about 6 of these with nowhere near that effect.

Evening all

Just back from a meal for my father's birthday.  Its been a busy day!!

Good to catch up with so many of you today.  I took the race in my stride as Snowdon was only a fortnight ago.  Did 3.7 miles in 23.40 and got 12th place.  I don't think I could have held on for 10k though....

No worries MM61.

WA - you ran a good pace.

JD - are you racing again tomorrow?  Arms to run..?

HWD - short term pain, long term gain!!!

10/11/2012 at 23:03
NR- driving the arms drives the legs might do LYF tomorrow, but only about 70% again, like today.
Planning on doing Elan Valley 10m week today though- and hope to be pushing in that for around 63........ We'll see though- a tad bumpy on the way

Alex- top running, mate! ,
10/11/2012 at 23:22

JD - thanks for the tip.  Thought I used them but obviously not!

Hills are good.  Flat is so boring!

10/11/2012 at 23:40
NR- it was just that you looked relaxed compared with the others! I'm certainly not telling you how to run!!!
11/11/2012 at 00:58
JD - thats my secret. I enjoy running and rarely push myself. Good luck with the racing. Elan Valley looks good.

Quiet on here today.

Well done MM61. 10 miles across the beach for me today.
11/11/2012 at 18:06
MM61 yes very muddy. I can't see the results- ??
The lack of mud on the XC yesterday was more than made up on the hills of Llys y Fran. Staggered my way round the course in 44.40 and was surprised to find I was first M 40!
Just made huge pan of pumpkin and chickpea curry!
11/11/2012 at 20:26

Evening all

Well done both.  I couldn't have raced again today! Well done on the prize JD.

Curry sounds good JD.

Turkey and mushroom risotto for me

NR- nice day for a run on the beach food sounds good too!
Curry was great!
11/11/2012 at 21:07

It was lovely on the beach first thing.  Not so bad for the legs and good training for MT10.  Are you doing that JD?

11/11/2012 at 21:16
NR- not sure yet. Got Elan Valley 10m next Saturday, then either Pembrey or Ras y Mast. Not sure which yet.....
