What do you eat as a pre-race meal? Is it important to eat pre-race? Do you always eat the same thing and the same amount before every race?

LW ...

Usually Porridge, Hot cross buns and a banana, but if really hot or staying away, muesli, hot x buns and bananas.

I normally race longer distances (half marathons) so find pre race meal is a necessity. I always eat the same thing between 3 & 4 hours before race start time.

I always have a tin of low fat rice pudding

An actimel, porridge or wholemeal toast with honey. Caffeine at some point.

I have to eat or won't be able to run.

Mmmmm - the rice pudding sounds interesting, especially when travelling, a lot less hassle than museli (and milk), I might give that a go.

its great just pull the lid off the tin so all you need is a spoon

I would also be interested in this topic - I usually have a normal breakfast - cereal and 2 pieces of toast - however today - and not for the first time i felt it bouncing around the Morecambe 10k with me - about 2 hours after I ate it. So what does others eat for breakfast on those race mornings - and how long before the race. Also had an actimol - fresh orange and coffee.

4 slices of white bread and lots of peanut butter with an energy bar 2 - 2 1/2 hrs before. never changes

the night before I have pasta and rice pudding and the morning before I have porridge and a banana - it works for me but everyone is different.

crunchy nut cornflakes and a black coffee 3+ hours before!

Toast JAM, Orange Juice coffee and Sultana Bran/Frosties skimmed milk

depending on distance and mood I have part or all of this

forgot to add I can eat whenever I want including standing on the start line. A handy skill if at a long race not much use in a 5k
