Sad news, he was such a talent and getting back to his best.
Such a shame, he ran awesome times in some of the toughest marathons, but this one at Chicago 2010 has to be one of the best finishes ever:

Shame he's passed away at only 24. Elite runner or not, that's too young for anyone to lose their life... sad times.

Kenyan news is suggesting rather than suicide it was a 6m fall from a balcony, he had been locked in a room by his wife due to a domestic argument and was trying to find another way out. I think you're right. There is a picture of the balcony at the bottom of this: BBC. There is no way you would try to commit suicide by jumping from there.
