Running in Morley Leeds

Hey there....I am looking for a running club in Morley, Leeds.

Leeds has a load of running clubs but the idea of getting in my car to go and run seems a bit odd and I'd like to meet people locally to run with.

I am pretty new to running, do a few very slow 10ks but am training to do a half marathon, so I need to step it up!

Does anyone know of a running club in Morley, or are there any people out there who would want to meet up regularly but fairly informally to swap routes, push each other on and generally provide a bit of motivation?

I see plenty of people out on the streets while I'm plodding along so am sure there are people out there!

More experienced runners who fancy sharing the benefit of their experience and running with me as a very slow run would be equally welcome!

Dewsbury Road Runners

Rothwell Harriers

Popular clubs not far from Morley.

Thanks....not found those online...Google isn't the answer to everything it turns out . Will take a peek.

Be better to join an established club I reckon.

Thanks,

Glad to advise - both clubs have been in existence for some time and put on their own events.  Hope you find one to suit your needs.

Louise - you could also look at Hyde Park Harriers, who were formed out of the Leeds parkrun.

There arent any clubs in Morley itself as far as I know, but besides Dewsbury Road Runners (mentioned above) there is also Spenborough (based at Princes Mary's track down at Cleckheaton) and Roberttown Road Runners.

If I was you I'd get down to the parkrun first of all and just get talking to a few people.

Good suggestions, parkrunfan.

Leeds City AC train at the South Leeds Stadium in Hunslet, not all that far from Morley.
Though they are quite a serious club, I am not sure how training is organised or if they have beginner friendly sessions, could be worth giving them a call to find out though.

Cheers peers.

Lots of good suggestions. Thanks - think Leeds City AC gonna be a bit to pro for me - and a bit too competitive.

And Parkrunfan - do you know - I have had a barcode for a Hyde Park park run for over a year and never been....you might have shamed me into going finally as I keep meaning to...

But Saturday is my long run day...dilemmas! Will take a look at Hyde Park Harriers though.

Thanks all - and if in the meantime anyone is actually running round Morley and can abide to be seen with a slightly gasping sloth, then let me know!

HI Louise

Just wondered if you'd found a club or if you still run or I guess if you'r still in Morley. I'm in the same boat too - want some extra motivation to help me prepare for 1/2 marathon.  If you want a running buddy let me know and we can try and get something sorted. Cheers. Jules
