First serious run since my Ultra, 11.5 miles at a gentle pace.

14.81 miles for me.... It should have been 14 miles but decided to add a bit on at the start to see how I felt. crap run but great weather!

Oh my god ... right the challenge stops here !!!

Due to a slightly early LSR, I'm in third place !!!  ... I think I may have a nose bleed!

(it won't last though  as my taper starts from now)

Sigh. I'm still unwell, and as such looking way behind my target. I might have to abandon ship, and change my training plan to be more about quality than distance to maximise the run up to my next 10k. Apologies team no sauce.

Another 5.03 for the no sauce team. Easy week over and hit 23rd in the rankings, an all time high!

We can stop if i make the top 20 Bruce!

I'm in at no 6 with a grrrrrr from my newly improved panther legs.

Rachelhen, if you're aiming for a half in July, and marathon in October, just be careful with the mileage.. Think long term. 15-20 miles is fine right now. No need to max it now.

Will it be your first half? I think it is.

Yes FRC it will be my fiorst half and then first marathon.

Do you think I am doing enough miles though? maybe I should think about getting a bit faster still just over 11 min miles? Rather than further?

I am doing the women's 10k in liverpool in May. I have done that loads. My last one was 58 mins and some seconds I would like to be a bit quicker even if only a minute. That was 2 yrs ago.

Hi Natural Born Runner and Just Run I am in no sauce team too but my miles aren't as many as yours ...doing me best for a plodder.

Yes, Rachel you're doing enough, if anything a little too much, certainly for the 10k.

The half, maybe about right but peaking too early?. I don't see the point in pushing yourself to do 24-25 mile weeks now..., going to have plenty of time for 30-40-50 mile weeks during marathon training

I would really concentrate on running with general fitness now for 10k & the half.
Doing any gym work, core work or weight classes?

If you strengthen your legs next 6-8 weeks and onwards, you're going to increase your chances of getting through marathon training safely and injury proofing yourself. And it will help you go faster too.

I am doing squats, lunges one leg squats planks general stretching when I come back from running.

I think a little bit of weights might be good too.

I think I just feel impatient to be able to run more, further and faster but you're right best not to rush.

Think I posted my blog page on the RL marathon page? Can message it to you if not. Really, you have to think long term about this, 6-12 months.

Stretches after fine, but I would do planks and running specific exercises on a different day for best benefit. So you get the best out of running, and best out of exercises when not tired...

Are you a member of a gym, or perhaps a circuit class/ boot camp nearby? They would really help, anywhere from £2 to £6 a session, quite a few good ones around Liverpool, Sefton park, childwall & wavertree.

Apologies to Team Red Sauce - I have done nothing since the start of April and have just logged all my zero days. In my defence, I have walked the West Highland Way, but unfortunately didn't run any of it! This is the second time I've done it and I have absolutely no idea how these hard-core ultra people can run it all in one sitting!!!

FRC you are being really helpful and i feel a bit thick!

I did dosome extreme circuit training last year but it was very expensive...I did enjoy it though. They were all much younger and i just plodded on.

The thing with me is I will give everything my best shot and push myself but I need topush in the right direction...if you know what I mean.

I have the Whitsett book marathon for non runners to help me.

Would climbing be a good cross training activity? I thnk I would like to try an indoor climbing wall. I used to climb but thats over 20 yrs ago proper outdoor rock climbing.
