True WiB, assuming none of them are doing

Drunken Euphoria, cheers mate. Looking back I think it was a hydration issue, I look 500ml of liquid with me but I had to go to bed after the run and didn't feel "right" for a few hours afterwards with a mild headache.

Hi all, I posted my runs for the weekend and will aim to get out there tomorrow for a mid week long run... no where in comparison to most of you!

23/07/2012 at 14:26

Emmy_bug - Looks like you are going well... long way over the average

23/07/2012 at 14:36

I'm just trying to do my bit

23/07/2012 at 15:00

I think I'm getting a little obsessed. I got invited to a 101st birthday party on Wednesday and my first thought was how I was going to have to rearrange my mid week long run!

23/07/2012 at 16:14

Gentle 3 miles for me today. Longer run tomorrow am.

23/07/2012 at 21:11

Gaz- I got through nearly 1.5l on my 20m in yesterday's heat. You could easily lose that and more on a hot day...

6.4m recovery tonight- felt surprisingly good- running faster than normal for same effort 11.6 for the day

Morning all! a lovely 10 miles by the canals near my parents this morning. Absolutely beautiful start to the day but it's really warm at 7am!

24/07/2012 at 09:51

Well done, Emmy

10ish miles easy, except for 10 x100m sprints, before breakfast for me this morning - hot for sprinting even at 9am. Worked up an appetite for my 40g of All Bran and whey protein shake though. Recovery run later in the cool of the evening

Just signed up to this - not sure how much help I will be as a relatively new runner (first month of serious training), but as I am currently planning on doing my first marathon at the end of October I thought it might give me extra motivation.

Hope to do 50 miles minimum this month - 29ish done so far with 4 more runs planned before end of month.

Is that all you eat for Brekkie, on your big miles JD, I take it you must lunch, dinner and snack pretty well too? Though I suppose the Whey protein shake will be quite substantial?

Welcome aboard Tim, sounds like your building the miles nicely. Off topic of building miles for challenge. But, after 50 this month, how much do you plan to build miles by each month or week? In case your not familiar, the principles of not building weekly miles and weekly long run miles distance by more than 10% (others jump in and correct me if I've got the wrong figure) is a good one to stick to for mileage building.

I see the gap has narrowed a tad, but looks like FE have played there "trump card" of 50 and 100k last weeks. Hopefully, some of us on here can play theirs (or should that be a joker) at the weekend. Anybody bar me and WiB up doing L50/100 this weekend?

WiB - Looking at Keswick forecast for a very much "thumb in the air" forecast, looks like you should get a dry overnight, but looks we'll get rain and some wind on the Saturday, may add to challenge for a few hours

To continue Stephens theme of military reference. I think I spy the culprit of the miles make-up, my friend Clairster over on FE just blasted 48m of mortar fire over towards our front line

24/07/2012 at 14:29

DE - Got my sun screen and snorkel packed. I am not taking any chances!

24/07/2012 at 14:46

I am planning to get my weekly miles up to 20 fairly quickly and then concentrate on extending long runs gradually there after and increase amount of non-running training. We have a marathon runner as a personal trainer at our gym and will be helping me sort out a more structured program.

Not sure exactly how long my long (or short) runs need to be - any suggestions more than welcome. I am very new to this type of training.

16 miles today, hard work in this heat but I'm getting a cracking tan

24/07/2012 at 20:00

Damn this heat!

Drunken is following close behind me. Lots more sober than usual.

I can see Private Emmy up ahead surrounded by Fetchies. If I can just make up a few more miles I can plant a few cannon right behind Officer Youngpup scattering those Fetch wretches.

But the heat this damned heat.

What are we doing in this desert?

This war?.

This hell hole?!

Right hamstring went last Wednesday so I'm finished for the month. Very disappointed as I was on course for my first 100 mile month. Never mind, have to let it recover and then start again next month.

24/07/2012 at 20:32

gary- tough luck mate, but rest up for August

Stephen- steady, man, steady!

6.48m recovery run for me tonight- still warm out there! 16.56 for the day

24/07/2012 at 21:07
Gary - hope you recover quickly, and the hamstring isn't too bad.

Jason & Gaz - nice running from both of you this month

DE and WiB - best of luck with your pending madness this weekend.....

8.5 hot & sticky miles for me this evening.
