First officer Stephen - I took from your good example in the last trench to storm ahead but I'm surrounded by the enemy. I must make up more miles tomorrow!

I know that there are a few ultras going on at the moment - who from RW s taking the baton for us? Is it jus Officer Wetter? And Major D?

Corporal Gary - was your hamstring taken out by a fetchie? Can we take any of them down for you?

Dear Diary

Day 24

7 miles advancement made right into enemy territory. Now up with young Emmy whos a game girl always up for a fight. Dont know why she insists on wearing that hat though. Why would anyone want to kiss anyone quick in a war?

There is a chance of making head way and getting as far as Officer Youngpup, but the heat takes the very will to fight from a man.

Think Private Emmy is getting a bit shell shocked.

Morning all,

I've made another advancement into enemy territory. I see the next enemy is 8 miles ahead so I'm going to see if I can stretch it out with some more miles later on tomorrow.

How is everyone else faring in the desert heat?

Dear Diary

Day 25

Private Emmy is definitely showing signs of  the "jangwa wazimu" as the locals call it.

Still if she thinks she can march 8 miles in this heat all good for her.

I have a spare bullet in case she turns rabid though.

Warm here too, but this just allowed me to complete my aclimitisation training before "Operation Bluebird" commences - I am already quite prepared for wind, rain, snow and possible intoxication - once I arrive in the 'kill zone' and liberate Bluebird. I will probably test several 'imperial pint' measures of as this substance is believed to have useful pain-reducing properties and is useful as an aid for interrogation due to its side-effect of loosening the tongue and inhibitions.

Was taking the rest of the month off to let my calf recover fully, but saw the gap had closed and logged 6.23 in horrible heat this morning. Not expecting to run again this month as my legs need the rest for the next battle. Good luck guys.

DE- Yep, lunch is normally ham sandwich with low fat mayo and loads of salad leaves (no spread), natural yoghurt, cottage cheese and several pieces of fruit. Dinner is low fat and high carb and I munch through loads of fruit in between

Phew!!! Due to various issues, I had to do today's medium long run at midday- hilly route in 25 degrees- but at least some shade at points. I found the first uphill half hellish, and the second half only a bit better.... 15.01m in 1.53.03 extra 0.5m warm down, so 15.51 for the day  Got through a litre of iso and still feeling a bit dehydrated. Off for sports massage in a bit...

Good luck WIB!

Crickey Jason - you're putting us mere mortals to shame! I'm going to see how the heat is later on before deciding on my run -i may do some cross training on the bike instead.

26/07/2012 at 13:03

Tempo run later, can't stand them at the best of times let alone in this weather.

26/07/2012 at 20:49
10.1 miles for me tonight - still blooming hot....
26/07/2012 at 20:55

26/07/2012 at 22:05

5.57 and 6.42= 11.99= oops!

26/07/2012 at 22:12
For goodness sakes Jason - I can't believe you couldn't be bothered to make that upto 12 miles......

Has to be said that the Fetchies are putting up a very strong rearguard action - great competition this month....
