I know this is a bit of fun / motivational, but still do we want to finish another month second fiddle to FE?

If not, were falling well behind again, so if you see this and haven't had chance to log, please do, doesn't take long and will put a smile on all of Team RW's face  (including the mug of this slightly over-competitive plodder)

...or, in my case, No Deal, as I'm visiting from FE

Yay for Emmy H

BOO for swittle

I'm feeling smug as I was up at 5am this morning to get 8m done and dusted. Lovely calm crisp morning up on the Downs, and I was finishing just as the racehorses started coming out for morning exercise.... Nice way to start the day

lol!  Love the sound of your run today, YoungPup.  10k for me round Crosby & Blundellsands, including the Antony Gormley 'Iron Men' installation on Crosby Beach - those guys continue to inspire!

23/11/2012 at 12:28

We'll forgive the incursion swittle I've never seen them with my own eyes (only on tv), but I find those Iron Men quite haunting, which I think makes them effective art/sculpture (I'd like to see more of this sort of thing).

Smug you should be YP, for runs like that there should an "I'm smug cos I ran this beautiful morning whilst most the country snored" t-shirt   sounds lovely.

Different to yesterday, beat the rain for my warmup, wind strong and gusted almost to a standstill at times, but no worries. I'd seen weather forecast and expected rain between 6-7 and it came at about 20'to, as soon as the hard reps started. Hard uphill reps and fast step-drills repeated many times in battering wind and rain that soaked me through in minutes was quite a challenge - could have been a "Rocky" montage. But, felt a tad smug for seeing the session through

Swittle - I've done a lot of running up and down the prom between Hall Road and Seaforth Docks, and have fond memories of the place.

DE - sounds like a tough session. Although I do a lot of running on hills I don't tend to do hill reps as such, but probably should.....

23/11/2012 at 15:08

Tbh, not a big hill and only a short set of steps, its the pace thats hard. My usual off-road hills are bigger, but taken at a pleasent dawdle for the most part Hope to get a short leg-stretcher in tonight and about 13m+ hill trail tomorrow (oh how i love weekends)

Sorry guys, but still off-season down-time here

Although I might start to build the miles a bit next week....

Cheers, DE - will try to post one of my pics.

YP, I've been in da 'Pool over 18 years, so we *may* have unwittingly met on the prom

track session this morning- 7.xxm total. Out for more later

24/11/2012 at 12:35

Hi folks. Yes, i see we're behind again. Ah well.

However, I hit a personal target yesterday. Having only returned to running a few years ago, and nursing injury for most of the time, I just got to my year's target yesterday. 1500 miles.   It may be small fry for some of you (did Jason hit that total in Feb?) but I didn't even make 900 miles last year, so I'm feeling quite pleased, and glad that this "challenge" is still out there, as it definitely helps me get out of the door some days!

Have good weekends all

24/11/2012 at 19:10

6.52 this evening, 11.83 for the day

Juggler- well done on the 1500 milestone

25/11/2012 at 05:31
Juggler - well done on hitting your target for the year. 1500 miles is not a small number of miles ( apart from for Jason )

I'm aiming for 2012 miles this year, and this challenge has really helped me as well.

Getting out the door is often the hardest part of a run I find, including right now, at 5.30 am on a wet, windy Sunday morning, when I'm just about to go run 18 miles.....

Must be mad.
25/11/2012 at 14:27
YP- hope you enjoyed it....
No 18s for me for a while! Just the 12 this morning. On the mileage front, I'm down on last year, but should hit 3000 this week
25/11/2012 at 15:04
Cheers Jason

I did really enjoy the run once I got out there, even though it was blowing a gale for the first 90 minutes, and I slipped, lost my footing and slid on my backside down a small slope at about 8 miles.

Ended up doing exactly 18miles, with average heart rate of 134bpm, so all nice, slow and easy....
26/11/2012 at 13:13

Good stuff YP, I've only just broken the 2000 mark myself for first time this year. On for it for two years, but missed out through late summer injuries (only by 25m laste year). Its a "nice to have done" motivator

Think I'm going to keep up mileage as long as possible this year, till dirty nappies intervene anyway.

On challange front, just looked, though looks like were a fair bit behind, I think we have a few people who haven't logged in awhile. The top ten is split 5/5, top twenty 11/9 in fetch favour, after that its even 21-30. So its still to play for if we can just move up some 30's to 20's, 20's to teens and break that 11-14th positions held by FE its all to play for

26/11/2012 at 14:12

DE - Good luck with the dirty nappies thing -  Is this your first?

I've decided to make this challenge a bit more personal, and, purely in the interests of a little extra motivation, have set my sights on overtaking the two Fetchies directly above me (Swittle and DeeGee) ....

I've done my research, gone back to the previous months, and in June, July, and September I was above both of them in the leaderboard, but in August Swittle beat me, and in October I was behind them both...

However, I've decided that come what may (as long as they're not both doing some mad 100+ mile ultra in the next week???), my goal is to be looking down (in a nice friendly competitive way) at both of them come 1st December.....

* YP throws down a virtual running gauntlet *
