I'm flying at the moment, might even be able to give myself the luxury of a mini-taper ahead of Helsby Half next Sunday and still reach 300 miles for the month.

Gaz- got to go for the mini taper if you want to do yourself justice!
10/01/2013 at 22:53
Go Gaz!!
10/01/2013 at 22:56

Cheers Guys. Yep, I'm def. leaning towards the taper and trying and get that pesky 9 seconds off my 1:30:09 PB!!

Got to go for it- best of luck!

Helsby never seems like a fast course but I got close to Gaz's target time a few years ago.  Hope you have a great race!

11/01/2013 at 13:28

Go Gaz - I'm sure you'll smash that 90 minute barrier!

I did manage to get out for 6 miles the day before yesterday and it did me no favours at all as it just compunded the dreaded manflu bug. To make it worse I was working away in London and travelled back on the train yesterday. I looked so bad the train manager asked if I wanted medical help! Anyway, I made it home and no running for a few days at least and on the antibiotics

Seems I'm more of a hinderance on this challenge!

Just signed up. Yippee!

MC, sounds like you need to take care, and not worry about the hindrance factor!

Welcome Grant

Just another 10 for me this morning. Might have done a further mile or two, but had to get back in time for shower and get to work!! Nice morning though. Very still, good running temperature and some nice views across north Brighton and Hove!

Enjoy the weekend all

p.s. Gaz, go for the mini taper, then you can give Helsby your best shot!

13.01m for me tonight- least miles in a day so far this month

12/01/2013 at 19:27

Trial for new parkrun this morning, some extra miles afterwards and 6.5m this evening in the bitterly cold gale force wind= 14.92m for the day

Taking it easy today. Legs didn't feel too good today after yesterday's 10 miler, so just a recovery 4.5. Planning on a longer run tomorrow

12/01/2013 at 23:53

I seem to have recovered from my calf strain and have logged just under 14 miles for the last few days. Had my first outside run since 27th November this afternoon, 5.4 miles. Had no reaction so am looking forward to ramping it up over the rest of January

Good news Gary just remember to build up gradually!

Just logged a 15.5 miler for this morning. Really enjoyed running in a group again for the first time in a long while. It just meant I did 9 of those miles at 8mm instead of my usual 8:30. Oh Boy that felt like hard work!!! Am now about to go against all the recovery principles and enjoy a long hot soak in a bath(!) Well... it was cold out there.

Enjoy your running folks

Gary- great news and welcome back
Juggler- good running Hope the hot bath worked
20.01m for me and the mileage seems to be paying off as it was one of my fastest 20s, but also the easiest I've ever run. Followed with 0.34m warm down

Thanks for all your advice and well wishes. I managed to sneak out for another 4 this afternoon, that was after a 6 mile walk with the Mrs!
