Are there anymore females in Nuneaton apart from me who would like a running partner?

I'm currently running 12:30-13:45 min miles for my long runs. My easy runs are anything from 11:15-12:30 miles. I usually do some form of a quicker session each week which can be anything from 9:55-11:00 min miles?

Ah Nuneaton. Lived there 'till I was 18.

Where'd you run?

It's a mixture of on the pavements round Stockingford, round some of the playing fields there and also over St Nicholas Park/Weddington way.

Do you know anyone who still lives there who is female and wants a training partner?

Also Treiziste,

Do you know what the 2 running clubs are like in Nuneaton?

Sorry no to both.

Lived there till I was 18 but lived in Yorkshire for even longer. Mam and dad still there but as they're in their 80s I don't think they'd help much.

Only thing I know about the Harriers was that my PE teacher at Higham Lane told me I should join - but I never did.

As a general rule though I'd say join any club - just give it a go - thats what I did. I'd guess that the Harriers are more 'serious' than the other?

Thanks.

I can be too competitive at times for my own good which has put me off joining one. However as I'm thinking about doing a marathon next April/May time I know that I'll need to keep my running up over the Winter.

You say you went to Higham Lane! I left there in 1988 so I think you may be within a few years of me in terms of age. Who was your form teacher?

I left in 86 then on to KEGS so not far off.

Teachers I recall were... Mr Harvey, Miss Warren, Mr & Mrs Phillips, Mr Davis & Mr Davies, Miss Steiner, Mr Tilly, Mr White, the infamous Mr Fox and the head Mr Breed.

There are others who taught me where I can picture the face or the class but can't think of the name.

Mr Fox!

I hated him as a teacher.

You know I'm not really surprised that your's is the only reply I got from this thread. I also put one up in the training section to find out what the Nuneaton Harriers and George Elliott Striders are like and there hasn't been any interest on that.

I guess that shows how helpful and interested in looking after themselves the Nuneaton people are.

I know that sounds unfair but it's very rare that despite smiling at another runner and saying hello I don't even get a smile or a nod back.

meant to say do get a smile instead of don't.

Bob the builder,

If you beat takes in part of Stockingford in particular Heath End Road you may have seen me! I've seen a bobby a couple of times along that road and always said hello to him.

Ed,

Are you a member of a club? If so which one and what's it like for plodders?

I think it was just after I left. Had ben suspected/rumoured for a long time.

I had a race today where there were some chaps from the Harriers doing one of the other events. I spoke to one of them before his race and then it turned out that he had parked near to me so he came over and we had a chat about the club.

He was saying that the slow group run at 9-10 min miles. I know this will be too fast for me at the moment however either Thursday or the following Tuesday I'll go and see what it's like. See if they can fit me with my present speed. If not at least I'll know what I need to do.
